We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexi Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexi, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I see risk as a necessary part of growth and success. Every major shift in my life and career has come from taking a leap, even when I wasn’t sure what the outcome would be. I trust my vision very confidently and feel the need to get my ideas out into the world no matter what it takes and regardless of any outcome.. I know that playing it safe won’t get me where I want to be. whether it’s putting myself out there creatively, making bold career moves, or stepping into the unknown, risk has been the biggest catalyst for my biggest breakthroughs. Id rather bet on myself and fail than stay stagnant wondering “what if”. Taking risks has brought me closer to my purpose, my artistry, and the life I know I’m meant to live.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would say I am mostly proud of how much my art has changed and shifted throughout my journey of being an artist and creative. I had a very specific vision for myself when I decided to take being an artist seriously and it has shifted time and time again, however all of the experience I have gained and personal journeys I have had to take has all come full circle and is all starting to make sense despite all of the challenges , self doubt and redirection that has been a part of the journey. I was once very rigid and believed things had to work out a certain way, but throughout all of the trials and tribulations I had figured out that growth is not linear and you must become adaptable and flexible with who you are and accept all of the changes your spirit goes through. Getting to where I am now has not been easy in the slightest, there was absolutely no handbook, it felt like swimming through an empty void and once it felt like things where making sense the universe had a funny way of switching everything up again. I was not handed the life I have today and I honestly feel like I haven’t even reached the brink of where I want to be today. However, 7 year old Lexi Reed would think I am the coolest girl ever and that is honestly all that matters to me. I believe what sets me apart from others is how multi-faceted I am. I have really refined my craft when it comes to visual art and striking imagery and it comes very natural to me. When it comes to music I feel that I am a student constantly but my strength and determination to keep learning is admirable despite all of the challenges and “no’s” I have faced in the industry. My self-esteem and ego has been challenged countless times and the strength and trust I have built in myself now despite what anyone may think of who I am is absolutely beautiful. I have gained lots of resilience and it helps me keep pushing forward. The biggest lessons I have learned today is that in the face of adversity and doubt from others you must keep pushing forward. The most important opinion about who you are should be coming from you. If you are able to look yourself in the mirror at the end of the day and be proud of who is looking back at you, you have won. Never compare yourself to others, that will stagnant your growth and rob you of your own creativity, you have to go into this knowing that everybody has a very specific journey that will not look similar to yours by any means. You also have to have unwavering confidence in the fact that you will receive your flowers if you keep putting one foot in front of the other. Everyone’s idea of success is very different and you have to learn yourself and understand what success means to you. I want the world to know that I have sacrificed so much, I have gone through so many hardships in my personal life, in my career and every aspect of my life. I don’t think people would even understand what I’ve gone through just by looking at me. But all of the pain and challenges I have been through have pushed me to become the best version of myself, despite all of the hurt I could have become very bitter but art has saved my life. I wear my scars proudly, I display them for people to be able to relate and for people to become inspired and understand that authenticity will always be your biggest superpower.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to some of my favorite coffee shops which are Maru, and Community Goods. I am a huge coffee lover and even though these are mainstream spots they are still. my favorite. I would definitely take them to Soho Malibu for a nice dinner and beautiful ambiance. The views are incredible it is definitely a must to get the boujee LA experience. I would also go to the Black Market Flea for amazing clothing finds and great vibes. My favorite place to be is home though.. it’s a vibe over here lol.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shoutout to my family, they have always been extremely supportive and accepting of who I am as an individual. Without their unwavering support and love I would not be the person I am today. My father specifically has been a huge beacon in pushing me to be a part of the industry continuously reminding me of the power and gifts I hold. He was an artist himself and paved the way for me and started helping me break out of my shell and get my voice out there since a young age. My mother is a fashion queen and has always supported the way I express myself and I believe she is the reason why I am so bold and adventurous with my looks and the way I choose to present myself which has helped me excel in the industry. I would also like to thank my peers, more specifically the individuals I had met when I first came to LA. It really all started off as us being kids, having fun, creating together because it was a common passion between all of us and it bloomed into most of us being sought out by high profile individuals who now trust us to be a part of their vision. It has been a pleasure growing up beside a lot of the people I have the privilege of calling my friends.
