Meet Lauren Venosta | Nutritionist + Personal Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Venosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business, it was out of pure passion to help people find better solutions than what was out there. With my degree in nutrition it seemed that I could only find jobs in clinical hospital settings, weight loss centers, or places that I wasn’t able to help people in the way I knew they needed. So I created it instead. My business was started to help people heal their health issues from the inside out using food and nutrition.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business started out as a small nutrition counseling company, offering 1-1 counseling and group programs. It quickly blossomed into a personal chef service as well. I found a gap between telling people what to eat and them having the time to execute it. So with my love of cooking, I began to offer nutrition counseling, meal planning, AND in-home meal prepping. So my clients can get a full service from start to finish – set health goals and get the food prepared for them to achieve those goals. Business has never been easy. As a one-woman show, it takes a lot of planning, organization, and effort to maintain it. One of the things I am most proud of in my business is the full level support that clients can receive. Many companies in my industry just offer one type of service. With mine, there are options for every level of support that a client needs. It can be as simple as an ebook for DIYing your health and as robust as a full in-home custom personal chef service. The client can have a journey that suits them and meets them where they are. This is the key to my clients’ success.
My brand is called Total Body Nourishment for a reason. It’s the whole package. I come from a place of knowledge, experience, and empathy to truly connect with each client and support them as they need. The biggest thing to know about my brand is that it will leave you feeling empowered, energized, and uplifted. Your physical health, mental health, and emotional health are all tied to your nutrition and lifestyle, so when you can dial that in, the way you can feel has no limits!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First off, go on a beach walk. There’s nothing more relaxing than putting your toes in the sand and hearing the waves crash. Fletcher Cove in Solana Beach is a great spot. Nearby, you would have to grab a juice and smoothie at Choice Juicery. They have amazing options and starting your day with a juice and smoothie will leave you feeling so light and refreshed!
The best part about San Diego is that there’s something for everyone. If it’s a weekend, visiting a farmers market is always a fun time. Little Italy on Saturdays or Hillcrest on Sundays are both fun.
If you’re into hiking, Annie’s Canyon trail is a nice time and gets the body moving.
Lunch: Nectarine Grove in Encinitas for really good gluten-free food with high quality ingredients, Fish Shop in Encinitas if you love fish tacos, Peace Pies in Ocean Beach if you’re into raw, vegan food, or Rudy’s in Solana Beach for a classic taco shop for some socal Mexican food.
If it’s a sunny day, head over to Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach for the sunset. It’s amazing!
Dinner options in San Diego are endless. Every cuisine you could want, it’s here. Barbusa in Little Italy or Amalfi in San Marcos are my go-to Italian spots for pastas and pizzas. They have gluten-free options which is a win! I’m always going to suggest Italian food over anything else, but whatever cuisine you fancy, you’ll find it in San Diego.
Dessert, head to Salt & Straw in Little Italy or Del Mar. Super unique flavors and delicious ice cream!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people around me that have contributed to my success in business. First of all, God, because He directed my path to finding this career passion through different life events in my early 20’s. My parents, who helped me set up the business and supported me through every step – from sharing it with others, to free printing, to encouragement and support with the back end of owning a business, like monthly bookkeeping. I’ve had a few business coaches over the years that inspired me to take risks and create new avenues in my work that lead to great opportunities. Friends, who have been there supporting me since day 1, sharing on social media, or joining my programs. It’s truly amazing when I look around me and all the support I’ve been given as I have followed my passion and built this business over the last 10 years! I also wouldn’t be here without my amazing clients, who are the reason I started this work and continue to do it. Lastly, my amazing man, Damian, and my daughters Rylie and Andie. They are the reason I continue to pursue success and build my dream business.
