We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Melzer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Tap Seven Branding is staying authentic to why I started in the first place.

I have always been a bit of a rebel. I have a strong personality and a bold way of communicating that can be off-putting in a corporate setting. I am not afraid to speak up, even when it’s not the most popular opinion.

Early on in my career, this personality trait got me into trouble more times than I care to admit. But as I grew older and more experienced, I learned how to harness my unique perspective to better serve my clients and the teams I worked with.

I used my challenger personality as an asset instead of a crutch and decided I wanted to be me, not some version of me I thought other people would like better or the version my boss wanted me to be. Just me.

I never ask my clients about the person or brand they think others want them to be; I ask for the difference they want to make in this world and why it’s important. That is how we will craft the most authentic position for brands and drive real results.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tap Seven is here to help purpose-driven brands disrupt industries. We are a specialized branding shop that knows what it takes to actually run a brand. I’m talking about the whole picture and how everything works together to make the biggest impact. We create marketing habits that change the way your consumers engage with your brand.

I am most proud of our ability to help so many business owners truly understand their purpose and put it into action. I got to where I am today with my perseverance, insatiable curiosity, and true love for telling people’s stories. I want the world to know that being different just to be different is not the same as being different to be better.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born and raised in San Diego CA! There are so many places here that hold a very special place in my heart. My morning coffee is one of my most treasured moments. I love to start my day at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters for a vanilla oat milk latte. My favorite hikes in the area are Calavara Hills, Torrey Pines and Cowls Mnt. I love spending time outdoors in the fresh beautiful San Diego Air. The go-to lunch spots are Board & Brew, Urban Plates and Mikko Sushi! I really love spending time at the beach, or with my golden pup Cali!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe so much of my success to my husband David for being so supportive and encouraging during the beginning stages of my business. I also would like to thank my mom for giving me the confidence to believe in myself and just be an amazing role model growing up.
