We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Beulke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been a leader and wanted to take charge. So over the early years in my career I noticed I was working extra hard for my employer and said I would never be satisfied with what I was doing if I was doing it for someone else’s benefit. So having lots of drive and determination along with support from family and friends I took the leap and opened my own business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A a graphic artist by trade with over 25 years in the industry of print, I keep learning. I am proud of all the work I have done with nonprofits helping them from little designs for social media through creating all the marketing for both the organization and all of their events. I worked hard and long hours which gave me a strong work ethic. I took every opportunity to learn and get better in my industry and craft. The road to self employment and a successful business has not always been easy, I have learned a lot along the way. Honestly making mistakes and truly sometimes just getting lucky. All in all I believe that being dedicated to quality and great service makes all the difference.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
WOW… great question, I do live in a city that many LOVE to vacation and visit. You have to visit the beaches: from Moonlight beach on Encinitas to the La Jolla Coast. A few must do’s is the San Diego Zoo & Safari Park (I would say its one of the best in the world), Balboa park and all of the Museums, the view from Cabrillo National Monument, the historic USS Midway Museum, take a stroll thru Seaport Village and Coronado Island. Now on to places to eat….. as a foodie I have so many places I love. Well you have to have Mexican food from one of 100’s of taco shops, my Fav is Rico’s Tacos in Encinitas. The Sushi my #1 go to is Sushi Lounge (they have 3 locations), fast food would be In and Out Burger, Crabhut is an amazing crab boil, for a lovely formal meal with a outstanding view would be the Marine Room is La Jolla, Manna Korean BBQ is a great place for those that can eat a lot of meat and like the do it yourself tempo, I could keep going but I am getting to hungry from writing all of these. LOL!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Husband Michael and daughter Abby are my biggest supporters. I also have some of the greatest friends that do everything to support me and my business.
