Meet LaSheena Wilson | Owner of Soarbae Candle Co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaSheena Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaSheena, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
My upbringing has shaped who I am today as well as the candles and self-care products that I create. I grew up in a small rural city in North Carolina called Beulaville, as the youngest of four, I had a big imagination and always loved to be creative. Growing up in North Carolina is where I discovered my love for nature, and the beauty of it. For me it was an open space full of adventure, from agriculture to the beautiful hiking trails. Now as a full-time entrepreneur and owner of Soarbae Candle Co; nature is still the place I find inspiration, from my fragrance selections to the colors of my brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Soarbae is a candle line with an extension of self-care and home essential items. We use clean ingredients to preserve the purity of each product. What sets us apart is that our brand is uniquely etched in love, poured in strength, and presented with grace. Taking a leap of faith and starting a candle line has not been easy by far, but it has been the most rewarding and fulfilling journey. The smiles on the faces of the consumers and the connections I have made have been priceless. With any business venture there will be challenges. The biggest challenge that comes to mind was identifying quality materials, whether it be the type of wax, fragrance oils or even the vessels chosen to display our products. I have worked hard to create a nontoxic product for everyone to enjoy. Candle making for me is like storytelling and each piece of the story matters.
What makes me most proud is the testimonials I receive; and being able to create products through the art of candle making that not only inspire but create an atmosphere of peace and relaxation through aromatic therapy.
The most valuable jewel or take away that I have learned thus far, is that with God nothing is impossible. I stand as a testament to that very statement. Overcoming the trauma of an abusive relationship was a motivating factor in starting Soarbae Candle Co. Allowing what once was pain to flourish into purpose. My mission is not only to create products to help one become more conscious of self-care and over all well- being, but to ignite the light inside everyone to SOAR beyond the challenges they face in life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First and foremost, I must say that San Diego is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. There are so many places and things to check out. First stop would be lunch at the Brigantine by the Harbor. For gorgeous views, Sunset Cliffs and the hike through Torey Pines is a must. Mission beach is always a fun time to relax on the beach or hang out on the boardwalk. Lastly, we’d dance the night away in the Gaslamp District.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my husband, and the love of my life. From the very conception of Soarbae Candle Co. he has helped cultivate and push this vision, and for that I am forever grateful for his love and support.
