We had the good fortune of connecting with LaChyna CarterWalker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaChyna, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Since starting my business, I have gotten married and am pregnant with my second child, a beautiful baby girl. Finding a balance between wife and mother duties while pursuing entrepreneurship has been challenging. It was a hard decision, but I realized I needed to take a break from my hair business. Sometimes you have to think about what your real priorities are, and right now, for me, it is my health and family. During my break, I took the time to rebrand. My supporters have been a dream, and when I’m ready to go full force with my business, they will be too! They were excellent the first time around, and I don’t have a doubt they won’t be again.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business, “Chyna’s Little Angels,” is a wig customizing and repair company. I do not provide installs. It is strictly a wig coloring and repair service for old and new wigs. I do, however, sell hair as well if customers want to do a one-stop shop deal. I’ve recently begun a new luxury hair line that contains Cambodian, Burmese, Mink, and Top Raw hair, which I am very excited to provide my customers with for a bigger and better experience! For every 10 wigs purchased through me, 2 are donated to cancer patients. I will always give back to the community in any way I can. I also offer ghost wig services for more prominent companies/hairstylists who need extra help with backed-up orders.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place to eat right now is raising canes! Their toast satisfies all my pregnancy cravings. But San Diego is such a beautiful city with so many things to do. From the night club scene in Gaslamp, to a stroll in Balboa Park, to visiting Pacific Beach- There’s nothing out here the readers won’t enjoy if they were to visit one day

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, family, and friends have been the backbone of my business. Without constant motivation, I would not be where I am today. There were many times I was hesitant to put myself out there and brand myself because I felt there were so many fantastic hair artists already I would be just another face lost in the pool. But they helped my confidence get to where it was needed for my business and supported me from the jump.
