We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystalynn Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krystalynn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had taken some time after having my second child to stay home and take care of my two kids and once my youngest turned one I felt ready to return to working outside the home. I wanted to start my own practice so that I can have a balance between being a wife, mother and therapist as well as homeschooling my 5 year old. I wanted to provide support to mothers and families using my past work experience and training. I especially wanted to make sure to work with mothers because I know firsthand how often we put ourselves last. Our society normalizes the struggles of motherhood which leads to more mothers not reaching out for help when they really need it.

What should our readers know about your business?
Krystal Clear Mind is more than just a private practice; it is a culmination of my passion, experience, and unwavering commitment to mental health and well-being. What sets my practice apart from others is our holistic approach to therapy and support. We do not just address the symptoms but strive to understand and heal the root causes of mental health issues.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work is seeing individuals and families transform and thrive. I am particularly proud of the community engagement/workshops and speaking engagements we offer, which extend our reach beyond traditional therapy sessions. These initiatives help us foster a supportive and informed community, which is essential for long-term mental health.
My journey began in the non-profit sector, where I worked closely with children and families, providing behavior support and family therapy. This foundational experience was further enriched by my tenure with a school district’s special education mental health team. These roles not only honed my skills but also deepened my understanding of the diverse challenges faced by different populations.
Transitioning to private practice was a significant milestone, driven by the desire to have a more flexible schedule and the ability to offer more personalized care. However, this journey was not without its challenges. As a wife and mother, I often grappled with the dual roles of being a breadwinner and a nurturing, present parent. This struggle is not uncommon. Balancing these roles was difficult, and I often felt the pressure to compartmentalize my life, keeping work and family separate. My role as a mother, balancing the joys and chaos of raising two children while stepping into entrepreneurship, was where I found my voice. This journey was about more than breaking out of societal expectations; it was about redefining them on my own terms.
At Krystal Clear Mind we empower our clients to navigate their mental health journeys authentically, embracing both their strengths and vulnerabilities. Through personalized therapy, community workshops, and ongoing support, we aim to create a world where mental health is prioritized, and individuals can live fulfilled, balanced lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would plan one main outing for each day, since there is so much to do in San Diego and to avoid burning them out. My best friend has a child so I would plan family friendly outings and some kid free dinners for us to relax. Outings with kids would include: LEGOLAND, Mission bay/beach, San Diego Botanical garden followed by lunch at The Crack Shack, The New Children’s Museum in Downtown San Diego. Restaurants to include would be a one of the Italian places in Little Italy, San Diego, Inside Out (kid free dinner), Brunch in Hillcrest, Lunch in Seaport Village.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My business coach, Dr. Christine Coleman has met with me weekly for the past year and has been a great mentor and friend to me. She has encouraged me every step of the way and worked with me on creating short term and long term goals and hold me accountable. She has sat with me and watched me navigate very difficult seasons in my personal and professional life and that means so much to me.
