We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Leanne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristen, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work/life balance has always been a lot more work than life I would say. I have always been determined to create and run my own business and anyone who has done this know that it’s a 24 hour a day job! However when I gained some momentum on youtube, I was working the same if not more, BUT because of the wonderful events I was able to go to and brand trips, it really made work feel more like an amazing vacation I got to go on, which I am so grateful for! Since having a baby 5 months ago, my work/life balance is way off kilter and it’s been difficult to sort through and figure out! I’m used to working a LOT more and I haven’t really been able to find a good balance of this yet, but in time, I’m sure I will be able to find a good balance that is healthy for myself, my baby and my husband. Until then, I will be enjoying all the new experiences motherhood has to offer!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I moved out when I was 16 and I started getting tattooed immediately. Over and over again people tell me that I would never be able to get a good paying job if I was covered in tattoos. I would tell them that I had better create a successful business all on my own then! I knew what I was doing. I was solidifying the fact that I wouldn’t make it unless I created something successful on my own. Back then, tattoos were a very large hindrance. I got my first business loan when I was 18, the business wasn’t a financial success but I learned so much from the process and I took it with me onto my next venture. Around 7 years ago, I founded and created a cruelty-free and vegan hair color line. We did over 1 million in our first year with $0 put towards marketing. It was so amazing to create something from nothing and watch it grow with the love and support from the hair color community. Through that company, I was also able to visit many animal sanctuaries and donate to their cause. Last year the company was sold, it was bitter sweet… but it came at perfect timing as I was about to have my daughter. Now being a new mom is my current adventure and I’m loving it, but it does come with it’s challenges! I smell another business venture not far behind…

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Nashville there are some VERY cool spots. It has grown so much even in just the past three years! There are many unique and interesting experiences. There is a wonderful ghost tour (great for all times of the year actually!) in Franklin that I would highly recommend. Alan Jackson’s Good Time Bar is one of my favorite honky tonks. Of course, you have to visit the country music hall of fame!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without the people who support me by watching my content, and following my life story I wouldn’t be able to do what I do, so I send my love and gratitude to those who have been by my side, no matter what length of time, supporting what I enjoy doing.
