We had the good fortune of connecting with Kirsten Asher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kirsten, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As Mahatma Gandhi says, “If you want to change the world, start with yourself.” As women, the way we treat ourselves is how the next generation of little girls will treat themselves. The more we allow ourselves to be last on our priority list, the more other women will continue to put themselves last. Change starts with how we prioritize ourselves, how we know ourselves, the word we keep to ourselves, how we respect ourselves, and finally, how we treat and respect other women. If we’re going to change the world, we must start with knowing who we are outside of our title, outside of projections, outside of past memories or wounds. The standards at which we treat ourselves invites others to treat us that same way. Huntress and Co. teaches women how to take a stand for who they are, to dig deep and know thyself and to cultivate self-respect through integrity. This isn’t just a personal development course, this is a commitment, a movement, a way of life – you step into the woman you’re meant to be surrounded by other like-minded women doing the same. We owe it to ourselves and to the next generation.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
If you observe a Pride of Lions you’ll notice the majority are female lions. You’ll notice the power, prowess, and presence they exude and you’ll also see how beautiful, graceful and playful they are. The female lion can be both strong and sensual, she can go out on the hunt and provide then come back and enjoy her family and sisters – they don’t try to be anything they’re not. The lion is our inspiration to know that we as women can be strong and sensual, we can be womanly and have a seat at the table, we can have supportive relationships with other women, we can be interdependent rather than codependent. Huntress and Co. is a Mastermind for women with an educational component where each women learns to deep dive into herself, cultivate self-respect and boundaries while sharing her experiences with the other women in the group. It’s a true meeting of the minds, a different way to do life – it’s a space for only those committed to their growth and being an example of excellence. Like Roosevelt said, “nothing in the world comes easy.” Through my own trials and tribulations I’ve learned, discovered and learned more. This is my way of giving back to the world – this is what gets me excited to show up every day, to know that the women who come through Huntress are stepping into their best self and changing the way women view themselves and others. This is what excites me, to be part of this shift in our society. I also learned that a lot can be gleaned from yin type leadership, that was a big lesson to learn. I didn’t have to be the loudest leader in the room, I could lean into my natural abilities and have confidence in who I am that would speak louder than “being” the loudest. The shift in mindset allowed me to get to the place I am today. I want the world to know that only through our understanding of ourselves and full acceptance of who we are and who we’re growing into, that is when true lasting change can happen.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooo, this is a good one! I would definitely take them to the Piazza in Little Italy once they landed, then shoot over to Balboa Park. From there we’d head north to see the beaches in Encinitas and Del Mar, go to the Self-Realization Gardens, over to Fish Shop and then walk the 101 down to the Roxy for some wine (pre-covid)!
Tell us a book you’ve read and why you like it / what impact it had on you.
Oh yes, two of the most impactful books are The Tao of Pooh and The Four Agreements. Both of these books have profound teachings and messages put in the simplest terms to where you can apply them directly to your life. They’re not convoluted or complex things ideas – you can easily implement them. I’ve been very blessed to have people in my life at varying degrees teach me lessons, encourage me and held my hand and heart when times were tough. None of them gave me an out, none of them told me to give up, they knew there was a mission to be upheld even when I wasn’t clear on it. They held me to my highest and for that I’m forever grateful.
