Meet Kindyl Younkin | Event Designer & Coordinator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kindyl Younkin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kindyl, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started thinking about starting my own business during a period of dissatisfaction with my corporate job as an interior designer, particularly unhappy with the changes brought about in my job during the pandemic. The evolving nature of my role inspired me to reevaluate my career trajectory, and the desire to really start my own venture took root.
Initially, I envisioned seeking out my own clients as an interior design, drawing upon my expertise and passion. However, a pivotal realization occurred when I started the comprehensive planning of not only my own wedding but also my aunt and uncles. This was during covid when options were limited and I planned two backyard weddings completely from scratch. The experience ignited a newfound love for event planning and design, prompting a significant shift in my business focus.
Motivated by this passion, I took the bold step of resigning from my corporate position to pursue a dual business model, offering both interior design and event planning services. The organic growth of my venture, especially in the realm of events, surpassed my initial expectations. Currently, about 90% of my business is planning & designing both private and corporate events.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pop and Pine Design is an event design and coordination company that prides itself on being a one-stop shop for all event needs. What sets us apart is our ability to handle everything in-house, from balloons to decor, graphic design, merchandise design, florals, and signage. Our growth has been fueled by word of mouth, a testament to the quality of our work and the satisfaction of our clients.
Our journey to where we are today has not been easy, but it has been rewarding. We have faced challenges along the way, from building our brand and reputation to managing the logistics of our growing business. However, we have overcome these challenges through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence.
One of the key lessons we have learned along the way is the importance of providing exceptional customer service. We believe that our success is driven by our ability to exceed our clients’ expectations and deliver memorable events that leave a lasting impression.
What we want the world to know about us is that we are passionate about what we do and dedicated to providing the highest quality event design and coordination services. We are proud of the reputation we have built and excited about the future as we continue to grow and expand our business.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom is my inspiration. I undoubtedly inherit my creativity from her. She has a knack for hosting events and making our home look beautiful, which has motivated me to walk in her footsteps.
