We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Perez-Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, how do you think about risk?
I personally feel like doing anything out of your comfort zone, is taking a risk. It best helps you navigate through life, because it’s all trial and error, you live and you learn. The biggest risk I have taken in my life/career is starting a small business. But this has also been the most fulfilling thing I’ve done!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Every installation I create, I do it with so much passion. I have a background in visual communications, so being able to fire up my creative side, after working a desk job for 6+ years, has been such a great motivator for me. I think really staying true and kind is what sets me apart, my intentions are pure and I just want to see my clients happy! So doing what I need to do to help make their vision come to life, that is what I strive for.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so much to do in our beautiful city! But when I have my best friend in town, all we need is good food and a nice view. We like to try new things each time that she’s in town, from The Rose in South Park to Public Square Coffee in La Mesa. Our current favorite though, are the cocktails at Tahona in Old Town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t even imagine starting a business without the support I have from my friends and family. For years, I enjoyed doing balloon work for family parties and was often told that I should start doing it professionally. But it took two very special people in my life to uplift me and push me to believe in myself as a balloon artist. My friend of 19+ years has been the best mentor and motivator, as she also has a business of her own. My husband has been my biggest advocate, just his belief in me alone, keeps me fueled and supported. With these two incredible people by my side, I know I could do anything!
