Meet Kimberly Aguirre | Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Aguirre and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The idea of creating a “healthy donut” or as I call them “doatnuts” were born during the pandemic, as I took to the kitchen to invent a guilt-free food that wouldn’t cause a deterrent from shedding the pesky quarantine 15.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I remember day 3 of starting my healthy journey, I was miserable, Eating healthy is often synonymous with bland, boring and unappealing.
I created the concept of a doatnut because I wanted healthy to taste guilty.
I am a strong believer that in order for a healthy journey to be sustainable you have to enjoy the journey. Including being excited for the things you eat,
Unlike regular donuts you aren’t eating empty calories. 90% of the calories from my doatnut comes from steel cut oats and sweet potatoes.
The difference between my doatnuts and protein donuts is my doatnuts are a carb based donuts not a protein based donut. Although it does have 5g of protein. It’s mostly considered a healthy carb.
Basically, it’s a fun way of eating your oatmeal!
I believe that’s why my doatnuts have created a level of excitement. We all want to be healthy. No matter our age, fitness level or shape. We want to make better choices.
My doatnuts make it easy to do. You can eat something incredibly healthy that actually tastes good. It’s a win-win!
What’s a doatnut?
Pronounced [doe.oat,nut]
It is a steel cut oats, sugar free, low calorie donut. I use steel cut oats that we mill in-house daily. It’s been lab tested by a nutritional analysis company to ensure we understand the nutritional profile of the donut.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, you most definitely would have to visit my Doatnut™️ Shop!
It’s nothing less than pink and fabulous!
Drive down Vista Way just a couple blocks from the Carlsbad Mall and a few minutes from the beach.
You can’t help but notice the pink frosting drip and sprinkles visible on the windows that face Vista Way in the Trader Joe’s Shopping center.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Sandra Suarez at SandL Designs & Wraps. She owns a local small business in Vista, CA. She created all the graphic design work for me shop and did a phenomenal job!
