We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimber Aubin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimber, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
After spending two decades in jobs that just paid the bills, I decided it was time to try something new. Painting and drawing have been a part of my life since childhood, however becoming a mother gave me that push to pursue something I had always wanted to try.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Each tee is hand drawn and edited. The idea came from trying to find quality, interesting graphic tees for my kids. Although graphic tees are everywhere for kids, finding ones that were unique and educational was a challenge.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My brother and I affectionately refer to India street as “The Strip” . The small block at the intersection of India St and Washington St. contains great food, a comedy theater, coffee and the best gelato in San Diego. The seven bridges hike, Balboa Park, The San Diego Zoo, and the local Laguna mountains are all top on my list.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My kids, they give me the drive, confidence and motivation to try new things. I want them to feel as if they can explore their ideas, without fear of failure. They will only learn that if I show them how to do it.
