We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Egel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, what principle do you value most?
Truth is a value that’s pretty “up there” for me in terms of significance. I believe that so many other things root and spiderweb from truth. Hardships and tests will come our way in life and I think the trick is to figure out how to navigate those times while staying “true” to who we are. I really do believe that whatever results from the path led by our truth is where we’re supposed to be. It’s right. This perspective keeps me going when I feel really down and out about where my life’s at. I suppose that truth is so important to me because it’s so real and raw. I associate truth with concepts like honesty, trust and having a genuine nature. To me, being around people, places and things that give this energy off is such a game changer in life. It’s everything. It’s what I want to be around.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a licensed therapist working in private practice for over 11 years. I’ve been working as a therapist and in the field for almost 20. If I had to sum it up in short, I would describe my approach as a therapist as non clinical and, rather, more artistic. Artistic meaning, I work with concepts such as intuition, mind, body & soul connections and generally, the energy that naturally comes up in the therapeutic space with any given client. Bringing creative concepts and combining those with my clinical background has really helped me create my own “vibe” as a therapist.

I believe that the “fit” between client and therapist is everything so I’ve set up practices where I connect with clients before we start any sort of therapy via a brief phone consultation so any questions can be asked and I can hear more about the clients intentions and wants. This short touch base often says a lot and allows us both to gauge if it feels like a good connection to more forward with. I believe that the connection, flow and synergy between client and therapist is a huge component for doing really impactful personal work.
What valuable lessons have you learned along the way?
I feel lucky to have met specific people that have guided my path, both as a therapist and within my creative journey. Along the way, I’ve learned some lessons and here are a couple for you. 1. I’ve learned that inspired ideas thrive with inspired action. I do my best to take action when I’m inspired and have definitely seen the benefits of doing so. I’ve found that the concept of momentum is super powerful. One thing always leads to the next, even if you can’t see “the how” of it all coming together. 2. Focus on making genuine connections not just “professional contacts.” I never was able to do the whole “mingle to gain professional contacts” thing. It just wasn’t a fit for me. However, along the way of meeting new people within work and life, I’ve found that my genuine connections with people are what have and continue to guide my client referrals, opportunities and all the good things. Like attracts like my friends. The truth always leads to more truth and good things. No need to waste your time “trying” to fit a square peg in a round hole.
In terms of what I do, in a nutshell, I’m here to help. I love that I’m able to offer support, heart and guidance to my clients. Don’t hesitate to reach out. Whether it be to connect, for me to work with you or for me to help connect you to what you’re looking for. We’re all in this together and I’m happy to be a resource for connection to get you to where you want to go.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a beach girl through and through. Some of my favorite things to do in San Diego are: Diving or paddle boarding in La Jolla Cove. A run down at Blacks during low tide. One of my favorite places to “beach it” and surf is, Cherry Hill. A show at Belly up or Casbah? Dinner in South Park somewhere with an interesting vibe, like Kindred. I love taking advantage of all the ocean adventures that you can do here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To all my true blue friends & family members. I’m where I’m at because of all the people who had and continue to have my back. Thanks guys! Words just can’t.
