Meet Kaylee Giraldo | Permanent makeup artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylee Giraldo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaylee, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose an artistic and creative career because I’ve always felt a deep inclination to express myself creatively. From a young age, I found immense fulfillment in exploring various forms of art, whether it was through makeup, nail art, fashion design, or styling. These avenues allowed me to channel my creativity and bring my visions to life. The joy and satisfaction I get from transforming ideas into tangible beauty and style are unparalleled, and that’s why I knew this path was the right one for me.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m nearing two years of owning my permanent makeup business, and it’s been an exciting journey of growth, both personally and professionally. What sets my business apart is my commitment to staying authentic and always providing the highest quality service. I make it a priority that my work is something I would personally want to see on my own face. I’m a picky client, so I ensure that my clients’ results meet my own high standards.

I’m proud of how I started my business on a whim and dove right in. Since then, I’ve seen amazing growth, and that makes every step worth it. I’m excited to keep learning and expanding my knowledge and skills. It’s been a journey of challenges, but I’ve learned that consistency is truly key. It’s about showing up every day, putting your best foot forward, and continuing to push yourself. There have definitely been difficult moments—learning new skills isn’t always easy—but the patience and discipline to keep trying have been crucial for me.

My story is a reflection of determination, resilience, and the willingness to reach out and learn from others. I try to utilize my resources, educate myself, and connect with other small business owners and mentors who have been invaluable in helping me along the way. I want the world to know that it’s possible to take a leap of faith and build something meaningful. The growth I’ve experienced so far fuels my passion, and I’m excited for what’s to come!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One thing about me—I’m a HUGE foodie, so if my best friend were visiting, we’d be grubbing out on some of San Diego’s best. Some of my top picks would be Blue Ocean or Sushi Taisho for sushi, Muay Thai Kitchen for incredible Thai food, It’s Raw Poke Shop for killer poke, Blade 1936 for fresh handmade pasta, and Seneca for both amazing pasta and unbeatable views of the San Diego skyline.

For drinks, I’d take them to Monarch or The Lafayette for a good vibe and great cocktails. Of course, no trip to San Diego is complete without catching one of our epic sunsets, so we’d head to Torrey Pines Glider Point, where we could watch paragliders soaring over the coast while munching on some takeout and watching the sun dip below the horizon.

For nightlife, I’d make sure they experience a little bit of everything—dancing at Sidebar, the unique atmosphere at Bang Bang, and the beachy party vibes at Firehouse.

On a more wholesome note, I’ve been really into exploring new hobbies lately, so I’d probably take them to a fun workout class—maybe Pilates at Pilates Republic, a high-energy boxing session at Rumble, or a cycling class at Verve Studios.

Overall, it would be the perfect mix of amazing food, great views, fun nights out, and some active recovery to balance it all out!

I wouldn’t be where I am today in my journey as a permanent makeup artist without the unwavering support of my family and close friends. From the very beginning, they’ve encouraged me, believed in my vision, and continuously advocated for my business. Their love, motivation, and trust in my skills have pushed me to keep growing and refining my craft.
