Meet Kathy Gomez: Hairdresser- Color & Extension specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathy Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kathy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Life’s all about taking risks, right? I can’t help but chuckle and smile a little when I look back at this past year because it was nothing but risk after risk and trusting my gut that it will all work out. I was presented with the opportunity to leave my commission job that had security and consistency to go off on my own and start my own business during a world pandemic. It is the biggest risk I’ve taken career wise and I wouldn’t look back. Fortunately, through hard work and determination things have worked out thus far. It changed my life for the better and allowed me to have freedom to determine my own success. Personally I think taking risk is what life is about. It typically works out and if it doesn’t then we learn, we grow, and we move on wiser and more prepared for lifes next risk. If we go through life fearful of what might or might not happen we can only blame ourselves for being in the same place a year from now.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a hairstylist located in Southern California specializing in color and extensions. I pour my heart, soul, and knowledge into every guest. I truly care about my guests experience and I always want to provide them with the best hair that suites their lifestyle and makes them feel beautiful every single day. The hair world is constantly evolving and I take pride in knowing that i too am always educating and investing in myself as an artist and professional. A strong work ethic and hunger to learn and grow has gotten me where I am today. No, it has definitely has not been easy. During difficult times I allowed my self to feel hurt/defeated for a bit (becuase we are just human) but then I moved on and kept moving forward. I’ve learned not to sit and dwell on the mistakes or “failures” in life because nobody is perfect and we are all just trying to figure it out. But the most important thing you can do for yourself and your family is to keep going and keep trying. I want the world to know that when you sit in my chair you are heard, loved, and accepted.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well we are in California so any beach city is a must! I’m all about being in the sun and enjoying what Mother Nature has to offer. Luckily in California we have it all- beach, dessert, city life, and mountains. I would go on a road trip and start local in Laguna beach and the nearby beach cities and enjoy the hidden gems they have to offer. Then I would go north to LA and do all the touristy things and enjoy some hikes. After, drive to mammoth for some snow , breweries, and my ultimate favorite spot- the hot springs! Then I would finish by driving back south and going to Joshua tree and go hiking and star gazing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s many people and experiences that I owe credit to in my journey for where I am now. But I will forever be grateful for the unconditional love, support, and guidance I’ve received from my fiancé, Donnie. He has help me push through the toughest of times and has celebrated every little victory. I am extremely blessed to have such a strong and genuine support system in him.
