We had the good fortune of connecting with Kat Quiroz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kat, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The decision to start my own business, Kat Angelica Art & Healing and now HeARTsong Wellness, was deeply rooted in my personal healing journey and my passion for helping others find peace, creativity, and connection. As an art medicine healer and Reiki master, I’ve experienced firsthand the powerful transformation that comes from combining spirituality, creativity, and holistic healing practices. I wanted to create a space where others could experience that same sense of empowerment and inner peace.

My thought process was guided by a few key principles:

Fulfilling a Calling: I felt a strong calling to share the gifts of art therapy and energy healing with my community. It wasn’t just about starting a business—it was about creating a safe and nurturing space where individuals could explore their spiritual awakening, heal their hearts, and reconnect with their true selves.

Building a Community: I envisioned fostering a loving, supportive community centered on compassion, sustainability, and well-being. I wanted to bring people together through workshops, ceremonies, and healing sessions, creating a ripple effect of love and connection.

Aligning with Purpose: I’ve always been inspired by the idea of living a life aligned with my highest purpose. Starting this business allowed me to combine my love for art, spirituality, and healing into something that could truly make a difference in people’s lives.

Creating a Holistic Space: A big dream of mine has been to establish a holistic healing center that offers a variety of modalities, from yoga to energy healing, and eventually expand into an eco-village community. Starting my business was the first step toward bringing this vision to life; with HeARTsong the opening of an ecovillage and stepping into the wellness space in a more grounded way is bringing the dream to fruition.

Overcoming Challenges: I knew the journey wouldn’t be easy, but I was determined to overcome any challenges because the work felt so meaningful. I wanted to inspire others to embrace their own healing journeys, no matter where they were starting from.

Ultimately, my business is a reflection of my heart and soul—a way to share my passion for art and healing while helping others thrive on their paths of self-discovery.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is an extension of my soul—a reflection of my journey, my healing, and my connection to Spirit. What sets my work apart is the deep intention and energy I pour into every piece. It’s not just about creating something visually beautiful; it’s about the process of transformation, release, and connection that happens as I create. My art is a living, breathing expression of the intuitive messages I receive and the emotions I transmute onto the canvas.

I’ve always been artistic, but it wasn’t always easy to embrace my creativity. For a long time, I struggled with perfectionism, focusing on the product and worrying about how others would perceive my work. That all began to shift when I started teaching preschool children and directing preschools. Through those experiences, I learned that art is about the process, not the product. Watching children create with pure joy and curiosity reminded me of the freedom and magic that comes from simply being in the moment.

When I began studying art medicine as a modality for healing and expression, I discovered another layer to this process. It wasn’t just about how art looked—it was about how it felt. The textures of the materials, the sensations in my body as I painted, and the layers of intention and release all became part of the journey. This understanding transformed the way I approached my work. It became a sacred practice, a way to connect with Source/Spirit and let the energy flow through me, translating into color, shape, and form.

One of the most profound shifts came through the act of portal painting. This practice taught me to step fully into the flow of intuition, to trust the guidance I receive, and to allow the messages to come through authentically. As I create from this space, I not only transform the canvas—I transform myself. Each painting becomes a portal of release, healing, and transformation, both for me and for those who experience the work.

During my training as an art medicine practitioner, I began creating large-scale paintings that truly changed my life. These pieces were born from deep intention and connection, and through their creation, I found myself stepping into a new chapter of my journey. They became a bridge to where I am today, guiding me toward my purpose as an art medicine healer and the founder of HeARTsong.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. I’ve learned to trust the process, to let go of perfectionism, and to honor the flow of intuition. I’ve learned that art is not just about what we create—it’s about how it transforms us in the process.

What I want the world to know about my art and my brand is that it’s all about connection: connection to self, to Spirit, and to the healing power of creativity. My story is one of transformation, and my hope is that my work inspires others to embrace their own journeys of healing and self-discovery. Through HeARTsong and my art, I aim to create a space where love, creativity, and spirituality come together to support the growth and well-being of all who enter.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The book Polishing the Mirror by Ram Dass and the concept of Loving Awareness have profoundly shaped both my personal journey and the creation of HeARTsong. This philosophy has been a guiding light, not only in my spiritual practice but also in how I approach my work and relationships with others.

The idea of Loving Awareness—being present with an open heart and seeing the divine in everything—resonates deeply with my values and the mission behind HeARTsong. It’s about cultivating a space where love, compassion, and connection are at the forefront, both for oneself and the community. This perspective has taught me to embrace the beauty in each moment and to approach life with gratitude and acceptance, even in times of challenge.

When I was envisioning HeARTsong, I wanted it to be more than just a healing center. I wanted it to be a sanctuary where people could reconnect with their inner selves and experience the transformative power of presence and awareness. Polishing the Mirror inspired me to integrate these values into every aspect of HeARTsong—from the workshops and ceremonies to the way we hold space for individuals on their healing journeys.

Personally, Loving Awareness has become the foundation of my spirituality. It reminds me to stay grounded in love, to listen deeply, and to honor the interconnectedness of all beings. This philosophy isn’t just something I practice—it’s something I strive to embody in my work, my relationships, and my daily life.

In many ways, HeARTsong is a reflection of these teachings. It’s a place where creativity and spirituality meet, where people can explore their own paths with loving support, and where the essence of Loving Awareness can ripple out into the world.
