We had the good fortune of connecting with Karly Kent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karly, what do you attribute your success to?

A major factor in my brands success is the reminder of gratitude every time you pick up your jump rope or start your workout. What’s helped me stay consistent and reach my fitness goals is appreciating and honoring where I’m at now on my fitness journey. Gratitude helps keep us motivated and thankful to continue to reach our goals. When we aren’t appreciating the effort we put in or always craving specific goals, that can create a bondage and inability to be satisfied with your progress. The key is being grateful for where you’re at now each time you start or end your workout.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The idea of Gratitude Ropes started the first week of lockdown, I lost my job, went through a divorce, had to sell my house and find a new home for my 2 boys and I. The only thing that got me through it all was reminding myself of things to be grateful for. At that time it was jumping rope. I love working out, teaching others and sharing jump rope workouts. The amount of positive feedback I was getting from others was exactly what I needed to get me through this and build the confidence up in launching my dream; Gratitude Ropes, a weighted jump rope system that will not only give you a killer customized workout, but also connect positivity with your workouts. As a former competitive jump roper and fitness coach, I knew by launching my brand it would help so many struggling with some of the same issues I was going through and be a solution for positive self talk and reaching fitness goals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re lucky to be in Socal with some many amazing coastal vibes. I’d take her to SeaPort village rent scooters and check out downtown. Then eat at Intercontinal Hotel restaurant called Seneca. It has the best vibes and gorgeous views overlooking midway downtime. Then we’d hop on the train and stop at a few of my favorite costal areas, Del Mar, Encinitas, Carlsbad and get off in San Clemente and enjoy margaritas by the train station at South of Nics.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Deepak Chopra. I’ve read several of his books, love to listen to his podcast and meditation. He’s helped me overcome blocks and put me in the right mindset to start my business and serve others at the same time.
