We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina Montes Vizcarra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karina, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Creating makes me happy. It is a moment where I feel a very deep connection with my being, it is like a meditative state, where time disappears.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
.I feel that creating is something that comes from a mysterious and magical place, I like to let myself go and see what is revealed in front of me. I usually create characters, mixtures of humans with animals, nature inspires me, I enjoy the magic, the mysteries of life and the various ways in which beauty is reflected in the world, in the duality of life, the deepest feelings from love, joy, sadness, fear. all those infinite nuances in between, with that bittersweet mix of the moments we live in. On December 5 I will have a show at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Ángeles and I am very excited, although it has been a very strange year for all people, I am happy to be able to conclude with this work. Here is a small review I wrote About my show: “Mirrors” Each piece is a story, a visual narrative, of a journey into yourself, when you decide to start this path to healing, turn to see your wounds. To that search for your peace and connect with your inner light. A process of transformation, in which I want to convey deep feelings and create Mirrors where people can see themselves reflected in these stories, and sow that seed in consciousness, to do the internal work in each person. I hope that if you are near there you can go to visit the exhibition, it is by appointment. I am also excited because I am going to release my new jewelry collection, Bittersweet, soon you will be able to see images of these pieces made with a lot of love, in my social media. I do not know very well how everything has happened, I know that I still have a lot to learn and I have a long way to go, of course there have been difficult moments and obstacles, but I also know that they have prepared me and made me a stronger and more accurate person in The path I want to follow in my life, perseverance and discipline has been essential for me, I have learned that when what you do makes you happy, you can transmit that to other people. Enjoy the process and be patient with yourself while still taking action, the energy has to move. What I can say about my personal history is that art helped me to move forward to channel what I feel and what I have lived, both good and difficult experiences, and for the same reason I feel a commitment to art because it has saved me life and I am very grateful to be able to dedicate myself to this.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are many wonderful options here in Mexico, let’s say I would like to take them better to the beach, to the cenotes in Merida, Yucatan, climb the pyramids in the archaeological parks, there are very beautiful exotic places, and you can also eat delicious

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is much to thank my friends, my love Dos diablos, who have supported me and have been great support on this path, also to the people who have supported my work, without it it would not be possible, and somehow also the obstacles in my life that have made me stronger.
