We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn G. & Sheri K. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlyn G. & Sheri K., we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
EARTH WIND AND PHOTO BOOTH grew out of our shared passion for photography and the joy of creating unforgettable moments—something that really came into focus after planning Kaitlyn’s wedding. Kaitlyn’s love for capturing authentic, heartfelt moments combined perfectly with Sheri’s passion for bringing people together and making celebrations truly special.

After seeing firsthand how much a thoughtfully crafted experience can elevate an event, we realized there was a real opportunity to offer more than just a typical photo booth. We wanted to create an experience that’s fun, stylish, and completely customizable—one that reflects the unique energy of each celebration and helps people make memories they’ll genuinely cherish.

Every event is a story waiting to be told, and we believe photos are the best way to capture those moments in a way words can’t. That’s why we focus on creating an atmosphere that encourages genuine smiles, silly poses, and real connections—because those are the memories people hold onto long after the event ends. With EARTH WIND AND PHOTO BOOTH, it’s not just about the photos; it’s about the laughter, the energy, and the joy that fills the room when everyone comes together to celebrate.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At its core, EARTH WIND AND PHOTO BOOTH is a creative experience. While we offer a photo booth, what we really do is blend photography, design, storytelling, and human connection into something playful, stylish, and unforgettable. Every event is different, and we treat each one like a blank canvas—crafting custom tap-to-start screens, overlays, and in-booth moments that reflect the unique energy of the people we’re celebrating.

What sets us apart is our intentional mix of high-quality photography and fun, interactive design. We approach our booth like artists: lighting, framing, color palettes, vibe—it all matters. We’re photographers, creatives, and event lovers who genuinely care about the moments being captured. It’s not about pumping out fast photos; it’s about capturing feeling. Guests leave with keepsakes that are beautiful, authentic, and completely “them.”

We’re most proud of the way people feel when they use our booth. It’s the laughter, the spontaneous dance moves, the hugs, the pure joy of it. And we’re always excited to push the creative envelope—whether that’s a bold design, an unexpected prop theme, or an idea a client brings to us that we can bring to life.

Getting to where we are hasn’t been a straight line. Like most small businesses, there were late nights, trial and error, and moments of doubt. But we kept showing up for our people—and they kept showing up for us. We overcame challenges by leaning into our strengths: storytelling, personal connection, and the belief that this work matters. That joy is worth curating. That memories are worth capturing well.

What we want the world to know is that we’re not just a photo booth—we’re artists who believe celebration is an art form in itself. We’re here to help people remember how good it feels to be surrounded by love, laughter, and a little bit of disco energy. 😉

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As locals who love capturing people at their happiest, we always lean into places that are full of character, light, and connection. Whether we’re downtown or in our Vista backyard, we’ve got a running list of must-visits ready to go.

We’d start with a creative day at Balboa Park—roaming through the gardens, museums, and Spanish architecture with a camera in hand. There’s something timeless about it that always inspires us. Kaitlyn’s been a photographer for nearly two decades, and places like this—full of texture, color, and light—are where her love for capturing real, unscripted moments really shines. We’d probably sneak in a few portraits just for fun.

The San Diego Zoo and Safari Park are iconic and 100% worth it for animal lovers—and if we’re feeling extra adventurous (or hosting families), LEGOLAND always delivers, especially with a film camera in tow to catch those candid laughs and wide-eyed moments.

For a beach day, Mission Beach is a must. It’s classic, a little chaotic, and always full of life—perfect for people-watching and quick snapshots of joy. We’d wrap the day with dinner at Miguel’s Cocina—because their white cheese sauce is basically life-changing.

In Downtown SD, we love hitting Coin-Op for arcade games and good drinks, and if there’s a Padres game at Petco Park, we’re absolutely there. For a cozy but vibey night out, Books & Records is our favorite new spot—beautiful lighting, great food, and that understated cool that San Diego does so well. (Bonus: the ambiance is camera-ready.)

Closer to home, we always take friends to Blue Mug in San Marcos for a great breakfast and killer coffee. In Vista, Belching Beaver for drinks, Ciao for Italian comfort food, and Standards Records for a little vinyl shopping and throwback magic. It’s got a cool, small-town feel that still surprises people—and we love documenting it all.

This corner of SoCal has so much range—from beachy chill to funky and creative—and we love showing it off through the places that mean something to us and through the lens we’ve spent years perfecting. Every space has a story, and we’re always looking for the light.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many incredible people who have supported us on this journey, but if we had to highlight one group, it would be our community—our family, friends, and especially the couples and clients who have trusted us from day one. Their encouragement, enthusiasm, and belief in what we do have been the driving force behind EARTH WIND AND PHOTO BOOTH. Each kind word, referral, and smile has reminded us why we love this work and pushed us to keep growing and evolving.

We also want to give a special shoutout to Kaitlyn’s husband, Tim G.—he’s become a familiar and friendly face at so many of our events, expos, and street fairs. His joy is truly infectious, and guests are immediately at ease when they meet him at the booth. He brings a lightness and warmth that makes the whole experience even more fun and memorable.

And to our friends who showed up for us early on—not just with encouragement, but by booking us (sometimes more than once!), paying us, and telling their friends about us—thank you. That word-of-mouth love has meant everything. This business was built on those early acts of trust and generosity, and we never take that for granted.
