We had the good fortune of connecting with Justine Waddell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I really didn’t set out with the intention to start a wreath making business. I started out wanting to redecorate my room but could not find anything that interest me. I have always been a creative person and decided to make my own unique pieces. Once I started showing my friends and family members, they began requesting items. It has really pushed me to get my creative juices flowing. That’s when I realized that I could make a business out of this.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As of right now, I am currently going into my senior year of college at CSU Dominquez Hills. It’s definitely been a challenge going to school full-time and having everything online but I am making it work. What sets me apart from others is that I am constantly coming up with new and exciting idea’s. I see others creating similar items but I am always trying to take that same idea and make it special. Coming up with new items is always exciting.

My grandparents are the reason why I am where I am today. They had raised me since I was a baby and taught me how to go about things when it comes to interacting with other people. Part of being a professional is knowing how to deal with others and showing respect for one another. Working in the medical field also helped me learn a lot as well. It wasn’t always easy because growing up, I was extremely shy and as time has gone on, I’ve learned how to speak up and voice my opinions and idea’s.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego definitely a ton of places to see. I would recommend going downtown. There are plenty of restaurants and area’s to visit down there. Can’t go wrong with checking out the museums at Balboa Park. We are known for our many beaches and you can’t go wrong with any of them. Don’t forget about SeaWorld and San Diego Zoo. For the sports fans out there, check out the Padres before you leave.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this to my family and friends. They are the reason why I am here today and doing what I love. Each and everyone has shown a ton of support on my journey.
