We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliet Penkin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juliet, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Growing up I felt that I actually played it pretty safe and didn’t take many risks at all. I always had a decent job with steady income but I always knew in the back of my head that I wanted more for myself and I was never going to get there as long as I continued to work under someone else. After leaving my second spa job, I was fed up and reached a boiling point where it was either I leave the industry completely or figure it out on my own. So I decided to take the biggest risk in my life thus far and went ahead and opened my own business. I had no idea what I was getting myself into nor did I have any financial help from anyone. Every day I’m still learning what it takes to be a successful small business owner and the rewarding struggles along the way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialize in is corrective facial treatments and various makeup services. I love being able to provide a space where results meets relaxation. Having my clients look and feel their best is ultimately what I strive for. I’ve worked in many different environments leading up to opening my own business. While some of them being quite difficult, I really learned a lot that propelled me to pursue what I exactly wanted in a career that makes me genuinely happy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a big outdoors person. I love hiking and roller skating. Some of my favorite places to go are Mission trails for hiking and I love to skate around Seaport Village and Liberty Station. My go to for food and drink is Hane sushi, Turf Supper Club and The Lions share.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shout out to my mom. She’s never doubted me in my career path and always pushed me to believe that I am dedicated enough to accomplish anything I put my mind to. I love you mom!
