Meet Julia Lyons | Singer/songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Lyons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julia, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued my artistic and creative career because I realized my passion for music is what I love to do. I’ve always loved to write since it was a way to get out what I was thinking. I’ve always had a passion for singing, because of that, I’ve made it my career since it’s something I love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well it all started with a small home town singing competition in California, I ended up winning in my category , and from there a national competition which I also ended up winning in my category. I’ve always loved music and had a passion for it, but up until that point I really never sang in public since I just wasn’t confident.
I always wrote poetry, and when I discovered I could sing and write I ran with it.
I made a commitment to write a song every single day since 16, so I have a lot of songs I’m dying to release.
But from my writing it has lead to releasing music of my own, and being able to perform in front of audiences all over America, accompanied by my brother who’s my fiddle player.
With my roots of country and rock, I play 3-4 shows a week and have been able to have the honor of playing larger stages such as The House of Blues in Anaheim, and make my Whiskey Jam Debut.
I have now been performing since I was 16 and am now 20, and the world of music has opened so many doors. And I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My hometown Temecula has so many fun stops, I would definitely say to visit a place called “Granny’s Attic” an antique mall with two stories and so much to dig through. I would also take them to Vail Headquarters, which has a small little stage I used to sing at. I also would take them to all the thrift stores and coffee shops in the area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely my grandma. Her outlook on life was truly so inspiring, and she inspired me to pursue what I loved. She also influenced my style and love for storytelling, since she was a storyteller herself.
Other inspirations are Stevie Nicks, Miranda Lambert, and Reba McEntire. Those three women have inspired my sound and my love for lyricism.
