Meet Juanita Louis | Physician Associate & Published Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Juanita Louis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juanita, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance is really important to me & I can not imagine life without it. It is the reason I have been able to thrive having a career in medicine as a Physician Associate and a creative career as a published Print & Runway model. During the pandemic I incorporated fitness as a way to handle the stresses of working at the hospital. It helped me so much that I have since incorporated it into my lifestyle & now I can’t imagine life without it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a medicine Physician Associate & I have worked in hospital medicine, primary care & urgent care settings. During the height of the pandemic I worked at the hospital & saw the most death I have ever experienced to date. It was a very difficult time & it was even harder because my creative career which is usually my outlet was crippled by the pandemic. This caused me to venture into fitness as a way of coping & now has been a fixed part of my life. I have now incorporated fitness modeling as part of my runway & print model portfolio. I want this to be motivation to anyone to pursue what brings them joy. It does not have to one genre. Medicine & modeling are the perfect balance for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Seafood restaurants are favorite so a perfect day would entail having dinner at either Blue Fin, The Palm West Side, One if by Land, Two if by Sea, The Capital Grill to name a few & then heading to watch a Broadway show to end the night!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family have been my greatest support system: My Dad, Julius Antoine motivated me in pursuing a career in medicine & my Mom (may her soul Rest In Peace), Marvlyn Joseph-Williams, nurtured my creative career as a Model & lastly my husband Mackendy Louis supported & continues to support both careers, being present at all my Runway shows & ensuring I always have the necessary resources to excel in both careers!
