We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?

Chop Wood, Carry Water is the latest book that I love. It’s centered around falling in love with the process of becoming great.

The process is where everything happens: the hard work, blood, sweat, tears, and last but definitely not least, The GROWTH. This book has been instrumental in providing guidance and motivation for me. It’s a book that keeps on giving. Time after time I can refer to the book in moments of discouragement, frustration, and ungratefulness. It constantly reminds me to master the little things, take stock in the little things, pay attention to the little things, because they all add up!

Additionally, having a mentor or someone that is or has been where you want to go, is vital. You simply cannot beat having a mentor’s support, knowledge, and experience on your side. Having someone that has an in-depth knowledge of the path you embark on is such a blessing. CWCW’s greatest impact on me has shown me the utmost importance of having the right ATTITUDE AND PATIENCE. These are the two greatest areas in my life that this book has impacted me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a mortgage broker. I help aspiring home buyers, current homeowners, Investors, and pretty much anyone in real estate. I match my clients with the best possible mortgage options for their individual needs while providing a seamless homebuying experience. I have the products the clients need and the knowledge and resources to get it done! I work with a knowledge team, step by step, from the very beginning to the very end, and even beyond to make sure my clients have the experience they are looking for.

What sets me apart from others are my experiences and the experience I provide to my clients. I was taught to be genuine and caring! My word and integrity are everything to me ! My Laws of business: 1. Treat everyone as family 2. Openly communicating and actively listening are paramount and 3. Have the loan products the clients need.
I am most proud of myself for remaining in such a competitive yo-yo industry.
Some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned are:
– Winners never quit and quitters never win.
– Life is short, Time is luck
– Take Risks
– Nobody knows what the hell they’re doing
– Health is wealth

I want the world to know I’m going to be the best Mortgage Broker in the world one day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so many great places in So Cal.

Weeklong itinerary:

Monday: Hiking on the “Top of the World” trail in the OC, Capital Grille for lunch, bonfire at Corona Del Mar

Thursday: Magic Mountain, dinner and drinks at EP&LP, hit the Classic Cat for a bar/lounge experience

Friday: Broken Yolk for breakfast, Top Golf after dark in El Segundo, Benihabachi truck for late dinner

Sunday: Brunch at Perch, gun range, dinner at All Flavor No Grease taco truck

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t agree more with the idea behind “The Shoutout series” and its aim at highlighting individuals that have benefited from the support and sacrifice of their “Tribe”.

Sounds totally cliché but I wouldn’t be the man and entrepreneur I am today without the support and love of my family.
They foundation of love, support, and encouragement that they’ve laid is truly special.

Soooo many people to acknowledge and so little time lol.

I would to acknowledge the following:

1st and Foremost, God, cause without his love and grace id be lost.

I would love to acknowledge my mom and dad, (Natalie Allen and Clinton Allen Jr. ) who have taught me countless things… none more important than being confident, proud of my name, and to always keep my word.

My grandfather Mervin Adkins who sets the BAR. He’s the single hardest working man I’ve ever known and the only man I strive to emulate.

My annoying little sister (Noelle Allen) who has become one of my biggest sources of support and best friends.

My Day Ones: Teresa Adkins, Sydney Hill, Bishop Hill, Chris Graves, Jamere Franklin, Julian Muse, Trey Hutch, Stirling McKenzie, Drew Turner, Chase Turner

My Momentum Mortgage Squad

My Fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and the Chapter I am a founding member of Rho Phi. Both contributed greatly to my earlier growth.
