We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, how do you think about risk?
If i didn’t take chances I wouldn’t be a champion today, Risk used to scare me I use to doubt myself. Until I faced risk head on an attacked it first I became free and felt like I could accomplish anything any goal I would set. Taking risk makes you who you are today never be afraid because you never know what’s on the other side waiting

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From a dream one night I woke up and told my girlfriend at the time that in this dream it told me to become a boxer and that I could win belts and trophy’s and not only that but change my health and my lifestyle at the time. From that day on I’ve never looked back and I’ve have been able to achieve those exact things in 2 years time. I started training every morning vigorously running scratching up grassy hills with 50 pound weights pulling me down. Sweating like a racehorse in 100 degree weather everyday because I knew that with this faith in my abilities that I could accomplish these dreams. I fight for my children I have a daughter with autism and she loves to watch me box and workout. My father used to box in the marine corps and use to tell me great stories I’ve always admired and now I can too pass that down to my children as well. I am currently a National Open Boxer so I will be having the opportunity to compete in our near USA Olympic Trails. I am very excited and thankful for the city of Sandiego and beyond for supporting me through it all

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to all the beaches of course ! Sandiego has great places for families, friends, etc I would take them to explore the downtown life as well as Coronado were it’s extremely beautiful.
Everyone loves seeing lajolla and the beautiful homes so I couldn’t leave that out as well as the downtown night life to hangout and catch some very good music and diner

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My life partner , My parents , My Children , all played a huge role in my success from waking up to making sure I can eat and make it to train. The ones around me have sacrificed a lot to see me succeed in a boxing ring. My close friends have always told me I could do great things and have always supported me to push myself towards my goals and dreams. Mentally that’s so important in life for some to know that others receive happiness from helping someone achieve happiness as well. I’m
Very grateful for the ones in my life even people on social media who support me as well
