Meet Jirius Sarkis | Restaurant Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jirius Sarkis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jirius, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
It has been quite a journey. There are a total of 9 siblings, with me being the youngest. We were refugees in Kuwait and our parents passed away when we were very young, and so we courageously made the decision to relocate to America. With a passion for our cultural heritage and a love for cooking, I embarked on a new journey to open a Mediterranean fusion cuisine. We have carefully crafted authentic flavors that bring a taste of the Middle East to our Huntington Beach community. My family hopes to be an inspiring example to those that have faced difficult adversities and show that you can turn tragedy into triumph.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We take pride in the time and effort dedicated to crafting each plate of food. Our customers appreciate the quality and satisfaction we bring. The strong bond we share with our customers is evident in the positive reviews on our Yelp page, where they praise not only our delicious food but also our exceptional customer service. For us, treating our customers well is just as important as their love for our food.
This journey has not always been smooth. Like many businesses, we faced the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I realized that to thrive I needed to stay positive and persevere through challenging times. I believe that every experience is a chance to learn and grow both personally and professionally.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many great places to visit in SoCal but the first stop should always be the beach. Huntington Beach Pier is a good place to start. There are many places to eat and drink around there. The US Open of Surfing is always a fun event to attend. I would also say the Pacific Air Show. Lastly of course, I would definitely recommend stopping at Pita Feast!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to acknowledge my eldest sister, Asteer, for her loving and courageous commitment to raising all of us siblings after our parents passed away. As a child, I would spend time with her in the kitchen learning different ways to cook mediterranean food. I dedicate my shoutout to her because she influenced who I am today and the restaurant I have built.
