We had the good fortune of connecting with Jimmy Dendrinos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jimmy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Personally, I have always pushed myself to choose the path of most excitement, even if it is a bit risky. When it comes to risk, my outlook is that I would rather deal with the consequences of a risk gone bad than live in fear and risk regret. While I hesitate to put my physical safety at risk (you won’t find me base-jumping), I will jump at the opportunities to try something new, travel to new places, and meet new people.

I always knew I wanted to start my own business, I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to build. This goal of eventual self-employment has allowed me to take risks in my career. While I went to school for Computer Science at Santa Clara University and worked in Silicon Valley, I chose to leave the high-salaries, air-conditioning, and relative comfort of the tech world to go work in music festivals.

When COVID hit, this risk quickly came due. I went from traveling with a years worth of work to being unemployed and stuck at my grandparents house in Florida. During this time, I was watching a number of concert recordings to relive those great moments.

I discovered NFTs almost a full year into the quarantine due to one of my favorite artists replacing his touring salary with a successful NFT auction. As soon as I found out about NFTs, I knew this was my opportunity. I had previously found Bitcoin in 2011 at $70 a coin and did not buy. Looking at NFTs in February of 2021 was like looking at Bitcoin at $70. While I recognized the potential of the technology, I didn’t like any of the current NFT offerings and wanted to build a platform that allowed artists to release concert recordings using NFTs. I purchased the domain www,nftconcerts.com and have been working on the idea ever since.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is NFT Concerts. We give fans the ability to Own the Show.

NFT Concerts is a platform that enables artists to turn their concert recordings, studio performances, and jam sessions into digital collectibles using non-fungible tokens. NFT Concerts functions a bit different from most NFT platforms. Rather than make the recordings public, we keep them private. We then issue a set of NFTs for that performance recording that allow their owner(s) access to stream the show. All NFT Concerts will have an underlying performance recording viewable only by the owner(s). Sell the NFT, lose access to the concert recording.

This release method will enable artists to monetize their content through exclusivity. While it would take 100,000 views on YouTube to generate ~$500 in ad revenue, an artist can upload their show recording to our platform, issue 50 NFTs for $10 each and sell them direct to fans. Now, only those 50 people can watch this content and they have the right to resell their NFT for a price of their choosing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to one of my oldest friends, Dave Magdeburger. Dave invited me to work my first ever music festival in 2016. Together, we served tacos at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and both weekends of Desert Trip Music Festival (Old-chella). This three week run transformed my life. Once I realized you could get paid to work in music festivals, i was hooked.

While I have stayed in the live-event world, Dave has taken his skills in the kitchen to the next level. If you’re ever in Baltimore, Maryland be sure to track down Dave’s Smoke & Tacos Food Truck for the best tacos east of the Mississippi.
