We had the good fortune of connecting with jill potts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi jill, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My job was slow due to the pandemic and I thought ” This is the best time as ever to start my passion project” I was granted the gift of time. I had no idea how to start or create an online store, but I went for it. I had the idea…(which i had for years) and now was the time to make that idea come to fruition.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have an online store called ‘goods4goodmarket’. It’s a retail store that is selling goods that give back to our planet and people. My online store shares the stories of the brands and how they are doing good in the world. I’ve vetted each brand and feel confidant in selling them.

I wanted to have a site where people could buy items that they felt good about. They know their money is going to a good cause. Purchase with a Purpose. I sell from everyday household items, to fun gifts products. I do pop events and so enjoy sharing these brands story’s. The causes are many; fighting human trafficking, saving the bees, providing reading glasses to those in need, recycled plastic botte backpacks…the list goes on.

There have been challenges….starting an online store is hard if no one knows who you are. Learning about SEO’s and social media has been a lot to digest. I’m still in the infancy stages of the business and have hopes that it will take off.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Santa Cruz California and it’s gorgeous! We have the redwoods on one side and the beach on the other. Downtown SC is fun, funky and lively. Lot’s of shops, restaurants, the MAH (museum of art & history).

Here is what I would suggest as a visitor:

Drive to Wilder Ranch state park. Great hiking, bike trails all with a fabulous view of the ocean.

Go to the Redwoods and pack a lunch for a great day of hiking
Downtown, meander around shopping and then stop in for a great dinner at Cafe Graditude

Walk the SC wharf an view all the sea lions communicating with each other.
Take a trip out to Moss Landing for a kayaking adventure to see an awry of different birds and watch the otters hang out.

Sit on the beach and read that book you’ve meaning to get to.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
