Meet Jianye Situ | photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jianye Situ and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jianye, what inspires you?
I get inspired by different things in life constantly, it could be a movie, lyrics from a song, an anime, a game or just other creative works that I see. I always write down ideas that I like whenever I get inspired, and try to make it into my work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been following some talented photographers on instagram, and I am constantly amazed by the work they create. Los Angeles is one of the best cities for photography in my opinion, it has everything to photograph, from the golden sunsets, palm trees and beaches to the urban futuristic skyscrapers and much more, so I decided to pick up photography in late 2020, my life has been a blast ever since.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Places like Griffith Observatory and Santa Monica Pier are must-visit if you have never been to LA before. I will definitely recommend watching a Lakers game live if you are into basketball.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Long before I started doing photography, I always enjoyed the photos by Kohki, a photographer from Tokyo. I learn most of my photography in the beginning by studying his photos, how he works with framing, angles, colors and more. I want to give him credit for inspiring me as a photographer. Even though he never taught me anything personally, he’s the reason why I improved my photography so quickly in the beginning.
