We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Nielsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After over two decades in the industry, 13 of those years managing venues. I found myself constantly drawn to the client experience. I loved design, logistics, and all the moving pieces, but what truly inspired me was the opportunity to walk alongside people during such an important season in their lives.

Starting Evermór Events was really about stepping into a role where I could serve more personally and more creatively. I wanted to create a planning experience that felt both beautifully curated and genuinely warm, one where every details mattered, and where my clients felt not only supported but celebrated.

I also bring a unique perspective from the venue side, so I understand the inner workings of events in a way that allows me to anticipate needs and ease the stress on both clients and vendor teams. Evermór is rooted in hospitality, thoughtful design, and building real relationships and that’s what makes this work so fulfilling for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art lives in the details, in the atmosphere, and in the way people feel when they walk into a space I’ve helped bring to life. As a wedding and event planner, my work is all about storytelling, taking someone’s vision, values, and style and translating it into an experience that’s not only beautiful, but deeply personal and memorable.

What sets Evermór Events apart is the balance of thoughtful design and warm hospitality. I approach every event with a venue mindset, thanks to 13 years running venues, which allows me to anticipate needs, streamline logistics, and create a seamless experience for everyone involved. But more than anything, it’s the relationships I build with my clients and vendor partners that make this work truly meaningful. I genuinely care and I think people can feel that.

Getting here wasn’t always easy. I’ve been in this industry for over 21 years, and the path has included long days, pivoting during life changes, and moments of burnout. But I’ve learned that growth often lives in discomfort and I’ve leaned on community, creativity, and a lot of heart to push through.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that every experience good or challenging adds depth to your story and sharpens your purpose. Evermór was born from that truth. It’s a brand built on experience, emotion, and the belief that the most unforgettable moments are the ones that feel like you.

What I want the world to know is that planning a wedding isn’t just about timelines and design boards, it’s about creating a legacy moment. I’m honored to help tell those stories, one detail at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting San Diego for the week, we’d be soaking up every bit of sunshine, style, and seriously good food this city has to offer. San Diego has a little something for every vibe from coastal chill to city cool, so I’d want the week to feel like a full experience. Here’s how I’d show them the best time ever:

Day 1 – Welcome to San Diego!
We’d kick things off with brunch at Morning Glory in Little Italy, because yes, it’s as good (and Instagrammable) as everyone says. Afterward, we’d stroll through the Little Italy Mercato Farmers Market and pop into some of my favorite boutiques and flower shops. That night, dinner and drinks at Born & Raised the ambiance, martinis, and tableside Caesar are iconic.

Day 2 – Beach Day + Sunset Vibes
We’d spend the day in La Jolla, exploring the coves and grabbing lunch at The Cottage. Late afternoon, I’d take them to Windansea Beach for a slow moment and a golden-hour picnic with a view. For dinner, we’d head to George’s at the Cove for cocktails and coastal cuisine overlooking the water.

Day 3 – Coronado Charm
A full day in Coronado is a must. We’d bike around the island, grab iced lattes at Little Frenchie, and browse through the charming local shops. Lunch at Peohe’s for the harbor view, then a walk along the beach by the Hotel del Coronado. We’d end the evening with cocktails at the Sun Deck to watch the sunset melt into the Pacific.

Day 4 – Spa + Slow Living
We’d treat ourselves to a spa day at The Pendry or Rancho Valencia followed by a relaxed lunch at Great Maple. This would be the recharge day before diving back in.

Day 5 – Wine & Design
We’d drive up to Monserate Winery for a tasting with a view, then spend the afternoon in Solana Beach’s Cedros Design District, walking through chic shops and grabbing an early dinner at Campfire in Carlsbad.

Day 6 – A Taste of Downtown
We’d start at the Seaport Village for coffee and a walk by the bay, then explore Liberty Station Public Market for lunch something for everyone, always buzzing with energy. That evening, we’d dress up and head to Seneca at the InterContinental. Rooftop Italian, twinkle lights, and views for days.

Day 7 – Local Favorites + Farewell
We’d wrap things up with a chill morning walk through Balboa Park, hit up Better Buzz for a last caffeine fix, and squeeze in one final bite at Herb & Sea

San Diego is full of vibrant neighborhoods, amazing creatives, and laid-back energy. Whether you’re into surf, style, or a little sparkle, this city makes you feel at home and on vacation at the same time. That’s what I love most about it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! This journey wouldn’t be what it is without the support and influence of so many incredible people, but I have to start with my mom.

She was a wedding dress designer when I was growing up, so from a very early age, I was surrounded by fabric swatches, sketches, and stories of love and celebration. Watching her bring a bride’s vision to life through design was such a beautiful introduction to this industry. Eventually, she transitioned into wedding planning herself and started her own company, Events by Annette.

That’s where I truly got my start, I worked alongside her for 8 years and learned the heart and hustle of this business firsthand. She taught me what it means to serve with grace, to handle the details with care, and to treat every client like family. Her example shaped not only my work ethic but also my love for storytelling through events.

So much of Evermór’s spirit is rooted in those early years with her, and I carry that legacy with me in every celebration I plan.
