Meet Jessica Fuller | Illustrator and Painter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Fuller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by Mother Nature, other artists and art

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been drawing ever since I could use a pencil. It has always come naturally to me. My parents are both artists, I have always loved doing it. I used to hand make greeting cards when I was 15 and the owner of the shop they were in was so supportive. Started selling art at a farmer’s market. Started having shows at local breweries and spots along the coast and San Francisco. I have learned everyone can be an artist but it’s just how much you put into it. It truly takes years and years of practice to become good at painting. It takes layers and layers to make a painting look good. It takes so much time! I just want people to be happy when they see my art. I love colors and sunsets and flowers and I hope these pieces just make people smile!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Encinitas so obviously we could see a different beach every day. I love to beach comb and have a picnic on the beach. The Swami’s garden is a lovely spot to check out. Also the glass conservatory at the Botanic Garden is pretty too. I would eat breakfast at Manna or and acai bowl from Lofty. We woud def eat multiple meals at Ki’s and drink their epic juices. I would take them to Kindred, Herb &Wood and Campfire. Downtown is fun to walk around and people watch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends and boyfriend have always been so supportive of my art. I have been making art my whole life, but selling it since 2006. They have supported me through showing up to help set up art shows and booths at markets. Buying pieces from me. Shouting me out on social media. Bringing their friends to my shows. It’s so cool to have such a network!
