We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Antoine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I retired from the Marine Corps and started my doctoral program the next day. I was already a little older than most students and already had a whole career behind me. I believed there was a better way to help people feel better than just taking pill after pill. I knew I could make a difference in their lives and get them back to doing what they love, and opening my own practice was the way to do that. Additionally, my kids were 15 when I graduated, and being able to spend time with them, go to games and concerts and not being run ragged was a priority for me. Missing out on their lives because I was working someone else’s schedule did not sound at all inviting to me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I went into private practice and opened my clinic doors in February 2022. I believe that my most important job is to get my patients back to doing what they love. I take great satisfaction from helping people return to being an active participant in their own lives again, whether that’s getting a high school pitcher back in the game, parents back running and playing with their kids or giving patients the ability to to their favorite hobbies they had to give up,

The road to where I am was not easy. I had little to no experience about being a business owner much less an entrepreneur or employer responsible for someone else’s living. Luckily I’ve met some amazing, incredibly smart and talented people through various groups who’ve been wonderful enough to help me along the way.

I want people to think about Acupuncture Wellness when they find themselves taking a back seat to acute or chronic pain, or any other symptoms for that matter. When they’re ready to take back their lives, I will be there to help them every step of the way. At Acupuncture Wellness, we use acupuncture, EAM, ATP Resonance Biotherapy (TM) and ozone therapy to help improve patients’ overall health and well-being with long-lasting results.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hopefully my best friend golfs because that’s what we do for fun.

I would recommend the touristy things SD has to offer, but also some of the wineries from RB to Temecula. I enjoyed a hot air balloon ride with sunrise in Temecula and would recommend that as well.

Not too much of a beach fan, but Del Mar is where we go when we do decide to take a beach day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my family. My kids were so good about helping when I was studying for hours on end, in fact my daughter helped! My parents, who live in Wisconsin, were my biggest fans, making sure I stayed the course. When I thought it might be too much, and wondered if this career was for me, they encouraged and supported me, as well as reminded me why I started this program in the first place. My partner never stopped telling me how proud he was of me and how much he believed in me, which in turn made me believe in myself.
