We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Rodgers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jen, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My goal is to make people’s lives better one house, one career, one community at a time.

My philosophy is that if I’m not working towards giving back, what’s the point? I was born and raised in this community and I want to make it the best it can be.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I call myself an accidental entrepreneur. I started cleaning out of necessity. I lost my job after the housing bubble burst and my husband’s hours were cut. I started working 3 jobs, one of which was cleaning vacation rentals on weekends. Slowly, I started getting people asking for cleaning services, so I started building a client base. At the time I was also waiting tables and doing sales for a local company. After several months. I decided to make cleaning a real business. In 2014, I founded Just Peachy Clean! This business has grown far beyond anything I imagined. I didn’t dream of being a business owner, but 10 years later, we have 15 employees plus myself and still growing!

This has not been an easy road, every level has a different devil. There’s so much that goes into running a business that people don’t think about. Creating everything from scratch presents more challenges. I’ve learned that I just can’t give up. If it were easy, everyone would do it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man, I love this area, I’m a true native, 3rd generation to this area, and at least 4th generation to Florida on my mom’s side. I love taking visitors to Hidden Treasure in Ponce Inlet. The views are amazing and the food it great. For fun, I’d take them to Back Alley lanes and arcade. It’s a cool little spot that is lots of fun. For dinner, Kona Tiki Bar. Love the atmosphere and live music and the service is stellar. One of our favorite things to do as a family is “ride through the woods” so we would definitely take them out to Tiger Bay Management area and drive around stopping at Indian Lake for the gorgeous sunset. We would have to do some shopping down Canal St and Flagler Ave and then enjoy dinner at Third Wave. I think I would have to take them up to Washington Oaks to see the beautiful roses, massive coquina rocks and take the ferry over to the fort to walk around. There is so much to see and do in this area it so hard to pick!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am a firm believer of coaching, education and training. I’m a part of Cleaning Business Fundamentals which is a coaching group specifically for my industry. It was the best decision I have ever made for myself and my business.

My husband has been integral in my growth. There is no way I could do what I do without his support and encouragement.
