Meet Jay C Williams | Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay C Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jay C, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
One day in the future I will open up my own production studio that allows other content creators and directors to produce their own prices of work. It’s only a matter of time, but I want it to be a genuine place where you get to watch high quality cinematic content that pushes the boundary of the film medium in several areas. Rather it involves sports related content, short-films, or narrative based features.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Jay C. Williams, I am aspiring director & producer and at this current time I have been enrolled at San Jose State University for the last 4 years as Radio-Television Film major. I have worked on several projects as it relates to some form of multi-media working internships and other freelance gigs, but the project I’m most proud of is a project by the name of Adversity. Adversity is what I would call my first major independent project, and to describe it briefly it follows the San Jose State Track & Field legacy including athletes from the past, present, and future. The journey of this project has been a test of my will to prevail through obstacles that include production, life, relationships, and more. This project optimizes the journey that it takes to stay resilient even when all odds are against you. In a sense I wanted to personally set out on a path to understand what it means to be resilient and achieve success under those circumstances.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t really no if there is one spot, what pops into mind for me at least I would say visiting spots Oakland and the general Bay. I think the Bay Area has a lot to offer, so I suggest experiencing the night life near Jack London Square, Vallejo has Six Flags, and San Francisco is San Fransisco.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to the athletic track and field director at San Jose State University, director Charles Ryan gave me a chance to set out on my first initial journey as a aspiring director and producer. I don’t know if he saw anything in me, but at the very least he gave me a chance to see my vision through. That’s really all it is about taking chances and giving opportunities. I also want thank the SJSU track & field teams of 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, both teams gave me the opportunity to follow them throughout the story I wanted to dedicate to them. They were all nothing but kind and appreciative of my work.
