We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Vego and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Hustle and planning. I believe that if I give maximum effort and do my best possible work, regardless of how long it takes, my team and I will be successful. I consider my work ethic, and passion for improving myself and my team to be my workplace superpower. Simultaneously, planning plays a huge role in my success, because hard work will fall short if the company runs out of money, we lose key team members, or I’m not prepared for changes in the market. By planning far ahead and setting myself and my company up to have flexibility if things don’t go as planned, we’re able to survive, continue to grow, and reach our goals.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Bevz is the first and only software platform designed to help convenience stores across the nation manage and grow their business, specifically focused on digitizing, integrating, and automating their inventory ordering with their in-store sales and e-commerce.

We have hundreds of convenience stores on our platform and will be adding thousands more over the coming years. We also have partnerships and integrations with companies like DoorDash, Uber, and Anheuser-Busch.

Convenience stores can embrace e-commerce, reach more customers, and better serve current customers without spending thousands of dollars, because our team at Bevz is dedicating our lives to making it a reality.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

It depends on the person and what they like to do, but no matter what, I’d tell them to come hungry and thirsty!

I live in Studio City, so I’d start local. Ventura Blvd., from Sherman Oaks through Studio City has a ton of great restaurants, shops, and bars. Some of my favorites are breakfast at the Yeastie Boys Bagels truck, acai bowls at Backyard Bowls, brunch at Firefly, lunch at Granville, small plates and great drinks at Black Market Liquor, unique but reasonably priced wines at Vintage Wine & Eats, Sunday Farmer’s Market, and ice cream at Salt & Straw or McConnell’s.

Outside of Studio City, the beauty of Los Angeles is we have food and activities from every culture. Want Thai food? Go to Thai Town? Want to dive into K-Pop? Go to Choice Music in Koreatown. Want authentic Mexican food…that’s literally everywhere! The food scene is incredible and I get to experience a lot of it, thanks to my close friends Charlie and Amali who run the food blog/Instagram OnlyBigBites.

I love my food and drinks, but there is really an activity for everybody. The beach is close-by, great shows at Pantages’s Theater, and you can always find pop up events through downtown LA and Hollywood…I could go on. In a nutshell, SoCal has everything anyone could want, you just have to find it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

So many people, but I’ll name a couple. First, my wife Stephanie, who has been a friend, partner, and believer in me for over a decade. She supports me when I take risks that affect both of us, and she keeps me happy and balanced with the stresses and pressure of running a company.

Secondly, my team at Bevz. Vic, Valeria, Cody, Joseph, Jim, Kevin, Renan, Hannah, RJim, Grant, and Girlie…you are AWESOME! You’re the reason Bevz has made it this far and will continue to grow. Keep up the incredible work.

Lastly, I want to thank my friends and the faculty at UCLA Anderson. I completed my three-year part-time MBA while launching and growing Bevz. The advice and learnings I got out of this program took my leadership skills and personal growth to a new level.
