We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We operate in a very stagnate, old school insurance industry. We felt the timing was right to create a different work environemnt in the commercial insurance agency space. We were right. We started in 2017 with 22 team members and three years later we are close to 100 teammates. Our flexibility empowers every individual in our organization to flex out and work from home, shift their work hours around what is happening in their life and it embrances work-life balance in the modern era. When we launch a job on indeed we usually have over 100 applicants and our work place culture is the reason why.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Forward thinking and innovation are part of our core DNA. We intentionally and unapologetically position ourselves as an industry disruptor, bucking norms and charting our own path. Our ambition is industry leader and our approach to get there is fresh with a twist of fun. This is our art. Issues are plenty in starting any business. Our biggest challenges were early on whereby we migrated 5,000 clients data into a new system, updated aged computers and extremely dated software for our team all while opening a new business. We overcame it primarily by listening to our team members and moving quickly with their feedback. And secondly, by caring passionately for our teammates. Caring, on a personal and emtional level is imperative to people wanting to work for your organization. I think we have created that culture and with it any problem can be overcome.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Food – Blue Water Seafood in OB. It perfectly captures the essence of San Diego! Amazing, fresh seafood coupled with great people that provide excellent customer service. This is our favorite food spot by a long shot! Activities – Surfing or slyde grom boarding at Mission Beach or OB dog beach is always a must. Catching a Padres game is also an amazing way for out of towners to get a full spectrum of the San Diego lifestyle. Their leadership has done a great job bringing in the best culinary flavors of SD. The stadium is spectacular and access to fun food and drink in downtown is a perfect top off. We would also try to squeeze in some hiking at Torrey Pines and visit Fort Rosecrans National Cemetary and Cabrillo Monument to pay our respects.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our Team! C3 success is 100% dependent on the amazing work, energize and attitude that they bring to the table each and every day!
