We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jack, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because my journey through the wedding industry opened my eyes to where my true passion lies. Initially, I was deeply involved in different aspects of weddings—performing in bands and cooking for wedding receptions, thanks to my backgrounds in music performance and culinary arts. Over time, after attending hundreds of weddings and experiencing my own, I realized I was always drawn to capturing the moment. With a camera in hand, I found myself captivated by the magic and emotion of wedding days. This led me to establish Taylor Film Co., where I combined my love for creativity with a focus on collaboration and storytelling.

Not pursuing a creative career was never an option for me. Creativity is the driving force behind everything I do, and a life without it simply wouldn’t make sense. It fuels my inspiration and is the foundation of how I approach my work, allowing me to continuously grow and connect with the amazing couples I get to serve.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey into wedding photography and cinematography began in 2009, after years of working in the wedding industry and always having a camera in hand. After capturing hundreds of weddings, I turned my passion into a successful business, focusing on meticulous planning and unforgettable client experiences.

It wasn’t easy. Wedding photography requires handling immense pressure—capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments in fast-paced environments. My background in high-pressure roles taught me to multitask and stay calm, helping me balance creativity with precision. Over time, I’ve learned that success comes from building strong relationships with clients and vendors while staying true to myself.

At Taylor Film Co., we pride ourselves on a personalized, detail-oriented approach that makes couples feel at ease. We create heirloom-quality photos and films, capturing love stories in a way that’s unique to each couple, and ensuring those memories last for generations.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d make sure they had an unforgettable time exploring all that San Diego has to offer. First, we’d spend a day in Coronado, starting with a walk on the beach to soak in the incredible views, followed by cocktail hour at the iconic Hotel del Coronado—the perfect spot to relax and take in the history and beauty of the area.

For food, we’d hit up Oscar’s Fish Tacos in Pacific Beach or Blue Water Seafood in Ocean Beach for the best fish tacos in town. Both spots offer fresh, local seafood with an unbeatable San Diego vibe. Another must-see would be Windansea Beach, where we’d enjoy the scenic coastline before grabbing dinner at Marisi or Catania in La Jolla for some amazing Italian food.

We’d also rent beach cruisers and ride the boardwalk in Pacific Beach or Carlsbad, soaking in the beach-town energy and people-watching along the way. To cap off the trip, I’d recommend catching a live concert at The Rady Shell —there’s nothing quite like live music with a stunning waterfront backdrop. Whether it’s exploring beaches, indulging in great food, or enjoying the vibrant San Diego atmosphere, this itinerary would show my friend the best of the city!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge shoutout to my buddy Chris Cole! We first met back in 2021 while shooting a wedding—he was handling the photos, I was on video, and right from the start, we were helping each other out. We meshed so well that it just made sense to keep working together. Over the years, I’ve come to really respect Chris because he’s always pushing the boundaries of what we do, constantly raising the bar when it comes to quality and creativity. He’s taught me so much about being a better filmmaker and storyteller, and for that—and our friendship—I’m beyond grateful. Here’s to many more projects together! 🙌📸🎥
