Meet Isabella Castillo | Content Creator & Marketing Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabella Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isabella, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
As I have continued to grow in the creator industry, I have came across challenges in balancing work and my personal life. With time I have found that when I am truly trying to be present and enjoy moments with loved ones, not everything needs to be recorded or filmed and if it does, not everything needs to be edited and posted right in the moment. As creators we get consumed in posting content for our audience right in the moment since we have built a community of people that want to know what we are up to, but this takes away from experiencing things for ourselves as well. This also goes hand in hand on what information I choose to post on the internet. I feel that things that are really close to my heart or situations I may still be trying to process should not be overshared on the internet and that it is okay to have a separation in certain areas of my life that are personal for the internet not to know

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When it comes to creating content, I started as many people did over the pandemic and was truly posting content that I wanted to post as far as what was trending and what was in. As time continued and I started gaining more traction, I realized that I wanted to pitch myself as my own brand to other large companies and have them look at me as an investment. With that, trial and error in picking what content works best for me and what I enjoyed took some time. With the trial and error of picking content, brand collaborations did not all happen at once and did not happen overnight. The hard work and dedication has now allowed me to work with brands on my own socials as well as takeover their social media channels and attend events that have led me to new opportunities I could not have imagined such as landing me my full time role as a influencer marketing strategist for a marketing agency.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I feel that San Diego is one of the best cities in the world and have loved exploring the city now in a different light in my mid-twenties. I would love to have my friend visit my favorites restaurants such as Fig Tree Cafe, a local coffee shop such as Moniker, visit Liberty Station for some sight seeing and of course watching the sunset at sunset cliffs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to first and foremost my family that has always encouraged me to pursue opportunities even outside of my comfort zone in order to grow in my career as well as my personal life. I would also like to shoutout my friends that continue to uplift me and have supported me even when I have a hard time recognizing how far I have come.
