Meet Isaac Guerra | The Gravities Collaboration & Music Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaac Guerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isaac, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Following that innate feeling of uneasiness or the unknown has always been something that has fueled my career. Leading with that gut feeling has opened so many doors and opportunities not only for me but for The Gravities crew as well. Falling in love with the process of risk taking has made me a better person and a more confident Leader that I could ever dream of being. Dive into your goals and dreams, cause sure as heck no one else can do it for you.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The Gravities are a five piece Soul-groove/ power funk collaboration from the west coast based out of San Diego, California. We are excited to announce Our New EP “Feel Real Good” it is a raw soulful/Funky collection of grooves, feels, and creative collaborations that transports the listener beyond genre and into an innate sense of primal instinct that makes you want to tear your door off its hinges and dance right on top of it. Imagine if Outkast and the Doors were at Disneyland and James Brown was babysitting. Yea Madness in a bottle to say the least! Taking time to reflect on how we got here was an arduous journey to say the least. The biggest challenge has been keeping our community involved. We play out so much cause we love our hometown and support any live music that spreads good intentions promotes self health. If there is one thing I would like for people to know about The Gravities is that big or small, young or old we all have a spark and its just up to you to find it within yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best thing about San Diego is that excitement is everywhere. First things first your on the west coast and one of the best spots are our beaches. Check Out Ocean Beach and stop by The holding company afterwards for a drink and a show. Embrace the outdoors on our side and swing by the Otay Ranch Mall and catch award winning beer at Novo along with The Gravities the House Band on Thursday nights. Tons of great venues such as the casbah always offers intimate shows weekly. Don’t miss out on all the beautiful fun San Diego has to offer.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many positive influences and support that shaped my success today, but there are a few people that stick out like a cherry mounted on top of a beautiful ice cream Sunday. Most people grow up and want to be those spectacular firemen, doctors, or anything else in between; I wanted to grow up to be just like my mom. The brightest shining star in the bunch, always eager to help, and not a negative bone in her body. I’m a firm believer that people are products of their environment, and I wouldn’t be here today if I didn’t have the most loyal and hardworking friends that i am so grateful to call bandmates as well. Samuel Pierce, Riston Diggs, Liza Divil, and Big Ben Roberson are my anchors and continue to bring the fuel to my flame.
