We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Dogs! Dogs are what make me the happiest, I can be having a frustrating day, or a day of Quarantine fatigue but can always take one look at my Dogs and my world instantly pulls together and finds it’s happy place . I am blessed with having two amazing Dalmatians in my life, Cooper & Coco. They are as different as night and day and are my everything!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Today I would like to talk a little about the commercial side of our business, Shadowcatcher Commercial. We are known for 16 plus years in the wedding industry but I haven’t had the chance yet to tell the world about our newest venture, Shadowcatcher Commercial. In March of 2020 when the Pandemic struck our industry and slammed the doors closed on any and all weddings and events, we looked at it as an opportunity to really develop & launch the commercial oriented area of our photography business. Weddings are still very much in our future, but we are now opening our doors and re branding to also collaborate with business owners to bring them creative and artistic images that they can use in their marketing and online presence. With 20 plus years in the photography field and our combined creative outlooks we strive to bring creativity and stand out images to all of our commercial clients. Images that get you noticed. Whether it be product, head shots, or real estate images we bring the zazzle! One kind of fun and different type of photography we are offering for products is splash and underwater product photography! This is a new eye catching look!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting, the first thing I would do is book us a beachfront suite at Paradise Point Resort. OMG, LOVE this spot! Right here in San Diego but you feel like you are worlds away in a beautiful private resort. From here I would plan a week of relaxing on the beach right outside our door, with some fun day trips to Seaworld,the Zoo, a day trip to LA with shopping up on Rodeo Drive, another day at the San Ysidro Border outlet stores. For some nighttime entertainment, maybe a concert at Humphreys, dinner for sure at The Kaiserhoff in OB.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to be honest, I have been staring at this question for a good 15 minutes, trying to figure out which one person out of all of the positive people in my life has played the biggest part in my story, and to shout out to just one is impossible. They say it always takes a village don’t they…and that’s so true! In my story though, the Oscar for Best Supporting team member would go to My Dad. My Dad encouraged me every day of my life, he always pushed me to do a little better and showed me there was nothing I couldn’t do. My little accomplishments were celebrated as though I had won a Gold Medal. He also knew just how to pick me up and patch me up when I fell along the way and helped give me the courage to dust myself off and keep going. I am the strong never give up person I am today because of my Dad I would also really love to give a shout out to the rest of my village and all the supporting members- My partner and co biz owner Skip, Daughter Jennie & Nick, My FABULOUS assistant Kendra, The Escondido Arts Partnership,and Photographers Jerry Ghionis and Jasmine Starr. And last Nordstrom for teaching me the value of amazing customer service to use in the model for our business plan.
