We had the good fortune of connecting with Havilah Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Havilah, how does your business help the community?
Being a blogger you get the amazing opportunity to try and support small businesses. During these trying times I feel like it’s so important to support your community and help get the word out about local restaurants, products, or any small business in the region. I love trying out new restaurants all over San Diego and sharing it with my followers.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So as for my career, I’m professionally a Designer at General Atomics. I’ve had various positions in my design career working with solar, fiber strengthening, and mechanical components. I studied abroad at Concordia University located in Montreal, QC. I absolutely love what I do for a living but also enjoy my hobby which is blogging. Fashion and lifestyle are my main focus as it’s always been a passion of mine. I love connecting with brands and sharing my perspective on them. Blogging started as a hobby and now has turned into a nice side gig. I would love to turn it into a full brand in the upcoming years and start an official company but for now I’m just enjoying the ride and seeing where it takes me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So I actually had a friend visit from Holland and I had a few weeks to convince her to move to San Diego. I took her to my favorite spots of course and one being Cody’s La Jolla. The food is always spectacular and the view is everything. Another fav spot is the secret swing location in La Jolla. It’s such a dreamy spot and really captures the terrain of San Diego and the lush vibes. Another La Jolla gem is the living room where we had the chance to grab some coffee and hookah with once again, an amazing view. Another favorite spot is the Torrey pines hike. During sunset it’s literally the best place to be as the cliffs light up with the suns rays. I also got to show my friend parts of pacific beach where she currently lives now and it was the best time. I took her to Mavericks where it gives off an open beachy vibe. Lastly, I got to book a boat with malarkey charter and show her the best sunset in all of San Diego cruising through the bay. I highly recommend booking malarkey for any private get together. 10/10 would recommend.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I feel like it’s so important to have a great support system behind you when doing anything in life. For me my support system is God first and foremost but also friends and family. With my sister Lisa McCabe running a business, she’s always been someone I turn to for business advice. Also, my significant other, Keith, has been so supportive in this journey and shoots most of my content now. I’m eternally grateful for everyone who has helped me along this Journey.
