We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Zapata and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gina, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by my children, they are the reason why I dream big to give them the life I never had growing up. As a single mom and first time business owner, I wanted to create something that not only allowed me to provide for them but to show them what it means to dream big, work hard, and turn challenges into something beautiful. I’m also inspired by the idea of connection. Life moves so fast, and its easy to forget to slow down and be fully present with the people we love. That’s why I design each picnic as a little escape, a chance to press pause and celebrate togetherness. Turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is all about creating magical, one of a kind experiences that bring people together in a beautiful way. What sets me apart is my focus on detail and the feeling I want each client to walk away with, its never just a picnic, its a memory. From whimsical themes to personalized touches, I want every setup to feel like stepping into a dream. Starting my business as a single mom wasn’t easy, still isn’t easy. There are doubts, financial challenges, and the pressure of balancing motherhood with building something from the ground up. But those challenges also became my motivation. I wanted to show my kids what resilience looks like and that no dream is too big to chase. What I want the world to know about my picnics is that its built with heart. Every picnic is designed to be more than just pretty decor its about creating a space where people can celebrate love, connection, and joy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Vista which is in North County of San Diego, and while my hometown is a little quieter, I love showing my friends around Downtown San Diego. A must stop for me is Old town. I enjoy walking through the historic spots, exploring the museums, and learning about the areas history. Since I have a soft spot for all things pink and girly I’d also take them to a cute aesthetic restaurant where the vibe is just as fun as the food. Some of my favorite spots would include, Luccas Pizzeria that has the cutest pink cafe inside- Kouklas cafe, Pink Rose Cafe, Morning Lavender, Miracle Potion. Another favorite is taking a cruise around the harbor, its such a beautiful way to see the city from the water. Afterward we would grab some ice cream and maybe end the evening at Belmont Park, strolling the boardwalk, enjoying carnival games, soaking in the energy of the beach. For me its all about mixing a little history, a little adventure, and a whole lot of fun memories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate a shout out to my sister Sandra, who has always pushed me to go after my dreams. Even when she may not see her own strength and potential, I see how capable she truly is of going above and beyond. She has been my constant reminder that believing in yourself can take you further than you ever thought possible. Her encouragement played such a big role in giving me the courage to step out of my comfort zone and start my business. Being a single mom and a first time business owner hasn’t always been easy, but knowing that she believed in me even during the times I doubted myself kept me moving forward.
