We had the good fortune of connecting with Frockyoupayme and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi FROCKYOUPAYME, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Community. Without it, my work wouldn’t mean anything. It’s the opportunity to share with others and platform local and smaller designers/brands that makes this work fulfilling for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I wish I could say I had super singular vision and girl bossed my way there, but I honestly feel like I stumbled my way into wardrobe styling. I knew I loved fashion, working with artists, helping people and shouting out brands/designers I discover and I knew I had a vision I wanted to share. I’ve taken a bunch of different roads to get here: PA, photographer, set designer, artist development.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first- we’d go to all my favorite spots in my hood – Golden Hill. We’d get coffee at Dark Horse, stop for a snack at Panchita’s and grab breakfast at the Golden Hill Cafe. We’d hang out at the park and get lunch at Luigi’s.
I’d probably find out where the 619 Gurlz were DJ’ing at and head over there for dancing, and go to Turf Club to end the night.
If we had a week I’d definitely take them to some other favorite places like The Rose, Whistle Stop, Coronado Dog Beach, and probably a night walk at Balboa.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without all the wonderful people I’ve learned from and worked with throughout the years. James Tran taught me a lot about running a business for myself, Three Omens gave me my first shot at commercial work and that opened up a whole new world for me, and Brooke Llewellyn gave me my first big assisting job in LA and taught me so much about how to work on larger projects and sets. I’m really grateful to have gotten to work with them all!
