Meet Filip Kojic | CEO & Founder, InHavenPro Defense

We had the good fortune of connecting with Filip Kojic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Filip, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Having went to both undergraduate, and graduate business school, I always knew I would attempt to establish a business. Naturally, most business endeavors end up unfavorably, and my initial forays into agency advertising (while it was still a viable option), and residential real estate proved to be extremely challenging for a myriad of reasons, so I ended up barely breaking even. Despite these setbacks which were primarily caused by the Great Recession, I still had to find a line of work where I knew I could provide expertise and genuine value, and equally crucially something based on goodwill ethics that I would feel proud of doing any given day. This turned out to be in the private defense business, where I chose to establish a private security firm that offers the full gamut of security services – from business office and retail, to estate and executive protection. Over the past seven years, I’ve worked for, and with, a number of companies and individuals/families in every single branch of private security. My depth and breadth of experience is profound, and even my brother, who happens to be a federal law enforcement officer, is by my side in ensuring the quality of service we provide is indomitable.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me and my business apart is the fact that I am obsessively devoted to providing the highest quality service attainable, based on genuine goodwill and care for the people involved. With all of that wrapped in a bespoke arrangement for any single person/family or company I have the privilege of doing business with. We have all experienced a tangible, and statistically proven increase in all sorts of criminal activity over the last decade. While there is no absolute security in this world, I will gladly give my word to anyone I work with that their risk profile will be substantially lowered as a result of hiring me and my company. As far as the many challenges I have faced, one simply has to single mindedly exert every molecule of willpower and determination to keep moving forward despite the inevitable storms of life we all, to varying degrees, encounter. A key point in having branded my business InHavenPro is that the word haven is a more elegant and brand-friendly synonym for a sanctuary of any kind. That is precisely the mindset I have always inhabited, and what I hope I can provide to a high degree to the people I work with and for. A more peaceful, comforting feeling and environment. We are at the heart of your safety!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In LA certainly the beachside, anywhere from Santa Monica to Malibu, and then Griffith Observatory coupled with historic downtown locations and museums. On a week long journey, I’d have to spend a few days on the central coast since I think of it not only as the prettiest location in the state/nation, but easily among the most beautiful settings globally. Having traveled extensively in the Western world, I can make that assertion with a high degree of confidence. The desert and amusement parks are, clearly, a significant point of interest as well, I just haven’t been to them in recent years. What’s not to love about the wonderful SoCal landscape!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Indubitably so, we are all affected by people in our lives, and some we never even get to meet. My mother and father have both influenced me profoundly in completely different ways. She was always there for me in the most loving and caring manner conceivable, and having spent her career as a pediatrician I was imbued by an extreme sense of morality from before I could even express that with intellectual eloquence. My father was monomaniacally devoted to his work as a globe-trotting civil engineer, and I hold tremendous admiration for anyone who has that level of commitment to excellence in anything they choose to accomplish. My all-time favorite books, among the countless I have read, are those by philosopher and writer Immanuel Kant, historian and writer Anthony Gottlieb, and physicist and writer Sean Carroll. In a manner of speaking, to paraphrase a well known writer, I don’t remember the books that I’ve read any more than the meals that I’ve eaten yet they’ve made me who I am. Physics and philosophy are my everlasting loves. As far as the entertainment business goes, filmmaker Michael Mann’s work was a profound influence both in the context of its philosophical perspectives, as well as aesthetic style.
