Meet Fab The Duo | Rock Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fab The Duo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fab The Duo, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
To us, becoming successful is about doing things our own way and not feeling like we have to stick to a formula. We’re occupying a completely unique lane as a gay couple in the music industry. Since no one has done what we have before, we can’t follow anyone else’s career path. Every time we’ve tried listening to someone’s advice because “that’s the way things are done” things have failed. We feel like we’ve had the most success when we march to the beat of our own drum and do what feels natural. For example, no rock band has ever made wearing heels integral to their brand, but people love when we wear our heels! There’s no blueprint in the music industry, so it’s important to trust your gut!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are Fab The Duo, an alt rock duo based in Los Angeles. We also are boyfriends. Our motto is “Be You, Be Proud, and Be Loud!” We’ve released two EPs (“Our Love Is Resistance” and “Toxic Air & Attitudes”) and we’re in the process of recording our debut album. Since we’ve started, we’ve headlined Pride Festivals, performed at world-famous music venues (Whiskey A Go Go, The Bitter End, The Cutting Room) and have been recognized by national news outlets like Billboard, HuffPost, and The Advocate. Being a couple and in a band isn’t always easy and we sometimes encounter hate and bigotry for being a flamboyant gay couple. But our love for music and each other always keeps us going and motivated to rise higher and higher.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re still new to LA but we’re finding our niche— we absolutely LOVE the old rock and roll feel on The Sunset Strip. We’d take our friend to a concert at The Whiskey A Go Go and then for drinks after at Rockin’ Reilly’s next door. In the morning (after waking up hungover) we’ll go get coffee in Silverlake and then hike Runyon Canyon for some good people-watching and exercise!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to shout out our incredible agent Eva at Fata Booking for taking a chance on us and believing in us when no one else did!
