Hi Ewelina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My deep-rooted passion for skincare, combined with over a decade and a half of experience in the beauty industry, ignited my entrepreneurial spirit. Having worked alongside renowned cosmetic chemists, dermatologists, scientists, and industry leaders, I gained invaluable insights from both multinational giants like L’Oreal and emerging indie brands.

Driven by a desire to innovate the skincare landscape, I leveraged my experience incubating brands and my established relationships within the industry. Inspired by the vibrant and result-driven aesthetic and derm beauty markets, I envisioned a clean, science-backed skincare line that combined the best of multitasking ingredients, botanicals from traditional Chinese medicine, antioxidants, and cutting-edge synthetic compounds. This line would offer derm-approved formulas, exceptional efficacy, and accessible price points, empowering individuals to feel confident on their skincare journeys.

My unwavering belief in the potential for innovation within the beauty industry, coupled with my passion for skincare, fueled my decision to embark on this entrepreneurial venture. That’s how Topical Skin was born.

A Journey of Growth and Resilience:

My journey to founding Topical Skin was one of perseverance and dedication. Starting at the junior level and working my way up the corporate ladder in the scientific medical-grade skincare industry has equipped me with the knowledge, experience, and confidence to bring my vision to life. Along the way, I’ve faced numerous challenges, from navigating corporate politics to balancing work and personal life. However, these experiences have shaped me into the resilient beautypreneur I am today. I had to relocate multiple times and put personal life plans on hold to take advantage of various professional opportunities.

Key Lessons Learned:

Every Experience is Valuable: Every failure, every setback, is an opportunity to learn and grow. Sometimes the silver lining is not apparent right away; trust that there was a purpose to why things happened the way they did.

Adaptability is Key: The ability to adapt to change is crucial for success in today’s fast-paced world. What got you to one point in your career may not get you to the next level. You must constantly evolve and expand your knowledge. Continued education is also key.

Your Network is Your Net Worth: Surround yourself with positive and supportive individuals who can inspire and guide you. You are the sum of five people you surround yourself with, so be mindful of who is in your inner circle, who has access to you, and who can influence you.

There Are No Shortcuts: Success requires hard work, dedication, and a willingness to pay your dues.

Afternoon: Visit the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) or the Guggenheim Museum. Grab lunch at Limani by the Rockefeller Center.
Evening: Catch a Broadway show or jazz show at Village Vanguard or Fine and Rare. Dinner at Balthazar in Soho.
Nighttime: Enjoy a rooftop bar experience at The Roof at the Met or Le Bain at The Standard. Grab a cocktail at Oscar Wild.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m incredibly grateful for the countless individuals who have contributed to my journey. My immediate family, especially my mother, husband, and sister, have been my unwavering support system, providing unconditional love, encouragement, and belief in my abilities. Their sacrifices and guidance have been instrumental in shaping who I am today.

I’m also deeply indebted to my mentors, whose wisdom, experience, and mentorship have been invaluable. Their guidance has helped me navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and develop both personally and professionally.

And of course, I want to express my gratitude to God for the blessings, opportunities, and strength I’ve received.
