Meet Eugeniya Lomeyko | Makeup and Hair Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eugeniya Lomeyko and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eugeniya, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision in my life so far was the decision to move to USA. I would have never thought I will live in a different country other than the one I was born in (Ukraine). I moved here with my husband and it supposed to be a temporary move at that time, just for two years. And if I had known I stayed here, probably I would have been too scared to try! And I am proud of myself that I did it , because I did not speak English well when we moved here and I did not know what I am going to do in a new country. It was long and difficult process for me. I am not a person who easily moves from town to town and from one county to another, so it was a huge challenge for me. I have two favorite quotes: “ Never say never!” and “Things that don’t kill us make us stronger “. And both quotes became real for me in USA. Also I am very proud of myself because I started my business third time in a row in a new place. We moved to San Diego just a little more then a year ago and I am building my makeup business all over again. It’s very challenging for me to build new networking with photographers, stylists, models, agencies and my new clients in a new city. So I keep reminding myself – I will be stronger and better in my craft after all. But I am loving what I am doing and not going to stop improving myself and develop my business. And more importantly – I was able to overcome my biggest fear – fear of something new. Now I am sure – all the changes in life will not only bring something exciting in your life, but also will make us stronger and appreciatively what we have at any given time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a freelancer I am seeking for any job opportunity, so I would not say that I specialize in a bridal makeup, for example. And even though I enjoy sharing the biggest moment with my brides, it is not where I can fully embrace my creativity. My passion definitely goes to creative field and fashion, and in a long perspective I would like to see myself working more for fashion, commercials and video productions. I am meeting a lot of great creatives, but I believe everyone is unique. We all have different experiences, different visions and goals. So we should compete only with ourselves. And I feel now I can offer my clients luxury high quality services, my creative vision, professionalism and my whole energy. I have a pretty introvert personality, so makeup and especially my creative projects help me express myself and my emotions through makeup art. I think my job is like a therapy for me. And my works can speak up by themselves about who I am professionally and what is my style.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As I mentioned I am pretty new in San Diego and most of the time a lot of interesting places were closed in that period of time, because of COVID-19, so I am still exploring the area. But I am already in love with La Jolla beaches, beautiful downtown with all great restaurants. Also I would recommend go to Mission Bay and enjoy kayaking or paddle boarding there, or visit one of the beautiful wineries in Temecula, and I love walking along Coronado bayside with skyline of downtown San Diego. I think San Diego is very relaxing city with a lot of places to visit, so you cannot go wrong with place here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think besides of my family, I am so lucky and grateful for all creatives and colleagues I work and collaborate with. I think every person I have met added something unique to my personality and moved me towards where I am now. Support of the people who are around you is very important, somebody has to believe in you.
