We had the good fortune of connecting with Erik Jon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erik, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Something people might not realize about the hair industry is just how much influence we have on our clients. At times, we’re personal brand consultants; sometimes a full-on therapy session. Being able to bond with clients in this way is what makes this industry so special.
A haircut or color isn’t just about aesthetics—it can completely shift someone’s wardrobe, confidence, and even how they’re perceived.

Clients always ask, Should I do this cut? Should I go this length? What about bangs?! That decision changes the whole vibe of how they look and feel so it’s important to have a clear vision. It’s never random—it’s always a well-thought-out process, designed to highlight their best features in a way that’s uniquely theirs.

Our clients are drawn to us for a reason—our energy, our aesthetic, our reputation. With that comes a responsibility: to guide them with intention, authenticity, and a vision that brings out their best! Also of course you need to be consistent with your work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is what sets anyone apart. Your personality and skill level. I noticed that I completely go to a different zone when I’m cutting someone’s hair and somehow I cut it as if it’s my own hair. Going thru it in a detailed manner looking for the best outcome. My brand more than giving you a great haircut or doing hair for a photoshoot, it’s about an energy and fun lifestyle that is authentic and not something I have to pretend to be. In turn that attracts my ideal client who has similarities and vibrate on the same level or higher! I love how talented and cool my clients are and it aligns with my brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was in town, I would recommend staying at the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood.. mostly so I can come use the pool, which has amazing views of the city, great food, and a beautiful aesthetic throughout the hotel. We would have course be going to Great White (Melrose) for lunch on a sunny day. They have amazing food and it’s always great for people-watching. There is plenty of shopping to do up and down the street over there as well. I love going to Beverly Hills Juice for a smoothie and wheat grass shot… We would stop by Bravo Toast or Community Goods for a matcha, then head to Lolo’s Wine Bar at night in Hollywood or check out Alba! Erewhon has the best breakfast burritos in town, so I would have us grabbing one of those and a green juice after a fun night out.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my parents for the support over the years!
My mentor Maria, who taught me a lot! She gave me intense Vidal Sassoon one on one training for almost 3 years, which laid the foundation for me to be at the level I wanted to be, as far as comfort and knowledge behind what I’m doing.
