We had the good fortune of connecting with Elliot Rozenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elliot, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Eat My Critique arose out of two things: (1) a desire to share my restaurant recommendations with my friends and family on Instagram so they could keep track of my travels and (2) a personal lack of trust of professional food critics and review companies as well as the more general food reviews you find on Google, Yelp and TripAdvisor. I would get frustrated every time I had a bad meal, especially while traveling and especially if the food was overpriced. I decided that I wanted to start a company that not only wrote honest restaurant reviews but also provided people with the opportunity to have personalized food itineraries planned for them to help ensure that the meals they eat during their travels meet or exceed their expectations.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There aren’t many companies that offer a personalized food itinerary planning service like our Food Concierge Service so I guess that is the biggest thing that sets us apart from other food-related companies. We take the time to get to know the members of a dining party and what their food and restaurant preferences are, and then combine that with our knowledge, experience and research to come up with a food itinerary that best caters to the group’s likes and dislikes. Our Food Concierge Service also handles all of the restaurant bookings and even prepares specific menu item recommendations based on each person’s food preferences.

We think of our Food Concierge Service as the best way to make sure that you are not missing out on amazing food without spending any time researching, making reservations, and coordinating with the other other members of our party.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We clearly would hit up a number of amazing San Diego food spots like Shan Xi Magic Kitchen, Tacos El G, Flavors of East Africa, Madison and more!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people that have contributed to the success of Eat My Critique and I could write an Oscars-length acceptance speech just going through them. But for this question, I’ll focus on just one person – my amazing partner, Romeo. In addition to his amazing work on all things creative for the company, including our photos, videos, and graphics, his social media management company runs Eat My Critique’s social media accounts and comes up with some of the most interactive and engaging content I’ve seen. He has really helped to increase our website traffic and grow our following, which has contributed a lot to our success.
